One last round of scattered showers and isolated thunderstorms is possible in the Brazos Valley through midnight. A few storms could be strong to severe, with damaging winds & hail being a concern. An isolated, brief tornado threat cannot be ruled out. Highest potential for severe weather is over the Northeastern Corner of the Brazos Valley.
The Brazos Valley African American Museum held its inaugural golf tournament Monday.
Over 30 people competed in the event at Pebble Creek Country club in College Station. There was a chance to win a new KIA Sportage if you got a hole in one, but despite some strong golfers, no one was that lucky. Organizers say they hoped for more participants but feel the first year was still a success.
“We are pleased with the first year. We plan to have it every year. It took a lot of work in planning this tournament but I'm pleased with it," said Barbara Walker-Guillory, Tournament Administrator.
All the proceeds will go towards operational expenses for the Brazos Valley African American Museum which is set to open July 22 at noon. The museum is located at the corner of Houston and 20th Street in Bryan.
