Thursday evening, Bryan's city council announced the Atlanta-based Mercer Group will head up the search for Bryan's new city manager. That's the same group that College Station hired to find their city manager.
The city council's goal is to have a new city manager by the beginning of October. James Mercer from the Mercer Group told the council he believed getting the job filled even earlier was realistic.
Mercer will meet with councilmembers individually within the next two weeks in order to come up with a base description for the ideal candidate.
The cost of the search to Bryan will be $23,000.
Acting City Manager Kean Register has indicated that he does not want the job full-time. The position came open when Mary Kaye Moore retired from her post at the beginning of the year. She had been city manager since 2000.
