Two young siblings were airlifted to a Houston hospital while their mother was taken by ambulance to College Station following a rollover Tuesday in Grimes County.

According to the Department of Public Safety, Waller resident Amy Sandoval, 26, was travelling north on FM 362 near Camp Allen at 4:20 p.m. when she drifted off the road.

She steered sharply back onto the highway causing her Ford Explorer to roll several times. A 9-year old boy and his 6-year old brother were both ejected and nearly crushed by the rolling vehicle.

They were taken by LifeFlight helicopter to Memorial Hermann Hospital in Houston. Their conditions were unavailable.

Sandoval was taken to the College Station Medical Center where she is listed in critical condition.

Authorities say none of the victims were wearing seatbelts and in the case of the children were not wearing child restraint seats.

To Bill: You are a moron. To CURIOUS: Please take a keyboarding and writing class. You could learn about the caps lock key, periods, word spacing, verb tenses and other useful information.

>>>> In single car wrecks often the driver is driving too fast for conditions, tired, not paying attention or intoxicated. <<<< And sometimes OTHER drivers or conditions are the fault; My brother in law rolled a Suburban a few years back swerving to avoid a moron in a van who pulled out onto a 70 mph roadway without checking for traffic and never looked back at the accident...err wreck... that he caused. Luckily he and his kid were both buckled in and walked away without a scratch after rolling 4 times. Another factor is that some vehicles, like SUVs are much easier to flip than others.

EVERYTHING HAPPENS FOR A REASON,PEOPLE ARE DOWNING THIS MOTHER AND WHY SHE REALIZE THAT NOT BUCKLING HER CHILDREN UP WAS IRRESPONSIBLE, BUT WHO ARE WE TO TALK DOWN ON HER, SHE SEES THE ERROR OF ACTIONS, WE NEED TO LET THAT PART GO AND UNITE AS GOD'S CHILDREN AND PRAY AND SUPPORT HER THROUGH THIS DIFFICULT TIME. TAKE A STEP BACK PUT YOURSELF IN HER SHOES AND THINK ABOUT HOW YOU WOULD WANT FAMILY AND STRANGERS TO TREAT YOU. WE ARE TOO QUICK TO JUDGE AND CONVICT OTHERS. MY DAD ALWAYS TOLD ME THOSE WHO LIVE IN GLASS HOMES SHOULD THROW STONES WITH GOD'S GRACE AND LOVE I PRAY ALL THREE RETURN HOME IN GOOD HEALTH, MY PRAYERS ARE WITH YOU AND YOUR FAMILY

How in the world did all of us older folks make it without being strapped in child seats growing up? Hell, I don't ever remember even wearing a seat belt in the back of the car. Oh well, my best to the family.

I don't know all the facts and at this point, the only thing that we need to be concerned with is the family's recovery. We can't go back in time and make her buckle her kids up....she made a decision not to and I am sure it will haunt her forever. Aside from that,,,I do believe in "click it or ticket". If for no other reason than it being in the law, she must pay the consequences for her actions and failing to buckle them. It isn't for me to decide what that punishment is. That is for law enforcement to decide, but to say she is has been punished enough, I don't feel that is true. We can't let our emotions cloud our judgment with regards to the law. God bless this woman and her children abundantly. He is merciful!!

God Bless all three involved and their family. This must be tough to go through. Regardless of the circumstances, this mother is paying for what she didn't do. Hope all is getting better and they recover soon.

I don't know any of the victims, but I would bet you dollars to donuts that this woman never again places her children in a vehicle without proper restraints. I am almost certain she has learned her lesson. This had to have been an eye opening experience for her. It is my personal opinion she has been punished enough. I'm just going to pray for all involved to have a speedy recovery. Hopefully this will open the eyes of a few others as well. We can never be too careful. There are all sorts of things that can go wrong when we get in the car.

Another example of GODS' grace and mercy. Glad they are going to be okay. it could have been much worse. i hate them, and they are uncomfortable, but seat belts really are necessary. children especially need to be secured. wishing mom peace, and all 3 a speedy recovery.

There is no such thing as a motor vehicle "accident". Every time a vehicle is involved in a wreck their is someone that did something wrong. In single car wrecks often the driver is driving too fast for conditions, tired, not paying attention or intoxicated. Another common cause is a failure to maintain a vehicle properly. Such factors could include faulty breaks, bad tires, improperly working headlights or nonworking windshield wipers. The list of possibilities is endless. We all know the traffic laws. Choosing to ignore them can have deadly consequences. I used the term wreck as opposed to accidents because there is no such thing as an accident in a motor vehicle. When a person ignores traffic laws and drives in a unsafe manor that is negligence and in no way, shape or form does that constitute an accident. It is very unfortunate that these people were hurt. I wish them all a speedy recovery.

Yes everyone does make mistakes but as a parent and grandparent I know that it is very important to buckle our children in the car. I also help my husband who is a carseat technician helping people insure that children are buckled up properly. I am so impressed about this I am going to becoming a certified technician in September. I pray for the mother and children for a complete recovery.

YOu dont know what happend leave me them alone, people always assume if its a one car accidnet that person was doing something wrong. I was in a car accident in may where my car flipped over and i was going less than the speed limit and it wasnt my fault i had hit bad gravel and a couple of potholes. leave them alone if you dont know what happend.

Thank you for Caring about the mother and her two sons. I strongly agree with the last three comments: LEAVE THEM ALONE. You dont know what happened. All we need is people to pray for them not to make matters worse!!

Everyone makes mistakes. i am s friend of the family and i know that if those boys were not buckled she did learn a very valuable lesson. The boys are both o.k. the oldest is hurt pretty bad and the youngest amazingly has no major injuries. theie mother is in icu with major injuries and i am sure that she feels awful but she surely never intended to hurt her or her children she is a wonderful mother and i pray that she gets to continue to be,

The Eagle states that they were NOT wearing seat belts. But the Eagle also states that it was a woman and her 2 SONS...not a boy and a girl. But the Eagle article does quote a state trooper about the seat belts. I just hope they will be ok. Nothing anywhere was said about her talking on a cell phone.

I TOTALLY agree with "are you serious".... GOD, the women is in the hospital and her kids are in houston.. LEAVE THEM ALONE. and stop badgering them.. atleast they are safe and still alive...

Posted by: are you serious on Jul 30, 2008 at 09:13 AM
why is it EVERYTIME i look at the comments on news stories about accidents and people getting killed there always seems to be those people that have something negative to say ALL THE TIME!!! really people- to steve02C5 who are you to automatically assume that she was doing something wrong and to just judge her? how about saying i hope everyone is okay???? amazing. i'm sure you're perfect, right?

My prayers are with all 3 of them....

What kind of parent would get into a motor vehicle and not assure that their children are strapped into their seats. Just the smallest accidnet could send them through the front windshield. Get a clue and have a little concern for your kids. It only takes a few seconds and is well worth it.

Posted by: Anonymous on Jul 30, 2008 at 07:37 AM
What the article doesn't say is whether or not the children were in carseats. It's worth the hassle to strap 'em in folks.

We arrived on the scene after lifelight had arrived yesterday. Money says she was on the cell phone and obviously in too big a hurry to seatbelt her kids in. Hope they all make a 100% recovery and the mother has learned a valuable lesson.

May God be with Ms. Sandoval and her children. I hope that all three make a full recovery.
