An immigration march drawing thousands took place in Bryan Monday afternoon. The rally was held in protest of recent federal legislation aimed at toughening immigration laws .
The demonstrations were part of the "National Day of Action for the Rights of Immigrants" and are part of dozens of demonstrations nationwide.
One protestor, Daniel Hernandez, says he hopes the rally will encourage the local community to become more involved with the movement.
"As our Bryan / College Station and Brazos Valley community see this activity and they see it across the nation, they're going to recognize people they know and they will recognize that this is really a community effort," Hernandez said.
