It's a collaboration that's sure to save lives.
In order to prevent house fires, the United Way, along with the Bryan and College Station fire departments are working together to raise awareness by releasing a trio of public service announcements.
Between 2000 and 2004, 65-percent of home fire deaths happened in houses where there was no smoke detector or the device didn't work.
To help launch the partnership, one-thousand free smoke detectors were given away.
An additional 50 were also given to the hearing impaired.
Those P-S-As featuring firefighters from both departments will air here on KBTX-TV.
