HOUSTON (AP) - Federal Emergency Management Agency disaster
recovery centers for hurricane evacuees in Houston and other Texas
cities were scheduled to close Saturday.
The centers have been open the past seven months to help those
affected by hurricanes Katrina and Rita last year.
The Houston center -- the largest such facility FEMA has ever
operated -- served more than 188,000 households.
Recovery centers in San Antonio, Beaumont, Orange and Dallas were
also set to close.
Officials say evacuees can still get help from the organizations
housed at the centers by calling local aid agencies at 211 or
calling FEMA at 800-621-3362.
