Bob Schieffer might only be switching to a different chair on the "CBS Evening News." He says he's leaning toward accepting an offer to give commentary on the newscast after he's replaced as anchor by Katie Couric. That'll happen in September.
If he decides to do it, Schieffer would most likely offer commentary once or twice a week and also be available to talk with Couric on-air about big stories.
Keeping him on the newscast in this capacity could add a serious tone and temper Couric's constant perkiness.
