The Texas Department of Transportation says no to a bypass for the city of Calvert. City leaders have been pushing for an alternate route for the portion of Highway 6 that runs through downtown.
They say 18 wheelers pose safety concerns and are damaging historic buildings. TX-DOT meet with the city's Chamber of Commerce Thursday morning to discuss results from a feasibly study.
The study found that a toll way loop would not be cost effective and TX-DOT says there is no money for the project.
The chamber was disappointed and plans to explore other options.
