More West Nile Mosquitoes Found in B/CS

Mosquitoes from three more areas in Bryan/College Station have tested positive for West Nile Virus.

Mosquitoes collected July 30 from the intersection of Baker Street and William Joel Bryan in Bryan, Avenue B in College Station, as well as Gilchrist Avenue in College Station tested positive for the disease.

These are the eighth, ninth and tenth positive batches found in Brazos County this year.

One human in the county has also tested positive for the virus.

Health officials remind residents that all of Brazos County is positive for West Nile.

Follow the Four D's to protect yourself from getting bit:

· Drain standing water around the house, including tires, cans, flowerpots, rain gutters, buckets,
wading pools, puddles, etc. Trim grass and shrubs and do not over water lawns and gardens.
· Wear insect repellent containing DEET.
· Stay indoors at dusk and dawn when mosquitoes are most active.
· Dress in long sleeves and pants when outdoors to prevent bites.
