Madisonville (Finally) Selects New City Manager

After months of searching and multiple interims, Madisonville finally has a new city manager.

Paul Catoe has been chosen by the city council, and will start before the end of the month.

Catoe has 27 years of experience as a city manager. He's led the city staffs in Colorado City, Hamilton, Eastland, Dimmitt, and most recently, Lucas.

In February 2007, Tom Ginter resigned his post as city manager amid growing pressure from the council concerning his performance. Mayor Scott Singletary also resigned that same week.

City Director of Finance Ruth Smith was initially named interim city manager, but asked to have those duties removed so she could concentrate on her regular job.

Former city councilmember Dave Ward was selected to serve as the interim after that, but after six months, his services were not retained.

In March, a finalist for the job, David Jacobs, was selected, but he withdrew from the running for the job.
