Thanks, but no thanks. That's the city of Bryan's response to road improvement plans for Highway 1179, otherwise known as Briarcrest and Villa Maria.
Tuesday evening, the council approved a letter to TXDoT asking that the project be scrapped. Bryan's main objections is that the changes would be too little, too late.
The city says traffic in that area has already outgrown the project and any improvements would be inadequate before they were finished. TXDoT wanted to install raised medians and widen certain sections of the target area which runs from the bypass to Wellborn Road.
In its letter, the city asks TXDoT to reconsider and possibly expand the scope of the project.
