There's resisting arrest, and then there's what College Station Police had to deal with Wednesday night in the form of Daniel Mickey.
Authorities say they arrested the 28-year-old Bryan resident after he broke into an apartment on Redmond. After he resisted arrest, Mickey was finally put into a squad car.
That's when he reportedly bent the car's door by kicking it, then got a lighter out of his pocket and began setting the squad car on fire. The car only suffered slight damage to the seat.
Mickey continued to resist arrest, and even kicked a pair of officers.
CSPD says Mickey faces 11 different charges:
- Burglary Habitation (1st Degree Felony)
- Criminal Trespass-Habitation (Class A Misdemeanor)
- Evading Arrest or Detention (Class B Misdemeanor)
- Resisting Arrest (Class A Misdemeanor)
- Criminal Mischief $500-1500 (Class A Misdemeanor)
- Arson (3rd Degree Felony)
- Assault on a Public Servant-2 counts (3rd Degree Felony)
- Retaliation (3rd Degree Felony)
- TDCJ Parole Revocation Warrant
- Theft < $1500.00 with 2 or more previous convictions Warrant (State Jail Felony)
- Office of Attorney General Writ of Commitment

Is there anyone who can explain to me why there is so much animosity between Bryan and College Station? I grew up here and my whole life this is all I have heard. What makes a person any better than the other just because they are from one city or the other? Character is NOT about where you live, it is about who you choose to be and the choices you make in life, no matter where you live. Do not pass judgment on a city!! I love both cities. I shop, eat, drive, have friends in both cities. I just think it is a shame when something like this is in the news, it turns into a racial and prejudicial battle. It is by far a perfect world but can we try to be civil and live peacefully? I have lived here for 30 years and am baffled by some of your comments. I have chosen not to put my location because it does NOT matter. What matters is that we are all here to live and be happy. Please focus on the more important things in life, not on who is better or who has more crime.
For been there and anonymous 627 all I have to say is that I have worked in TDCJ and let me say that it is alot easier to pull it out of the pocket of the suspect and throw it on the ground. I will also say that it is not so easy to do what those men and women on the streets do day in and day out. It is not the same working in TDCJ but I can only imagine what it is like walking up to someone you have never met before, not knowing what their mental state is, or even if they are suicidal and telling them that you are going to take them to jail. I dont know about yall but these men and women do what they do cause they love it and if they make a mistake every once in a while then I think that they are doing pretty "DARN" good.
one person went to jail and yall can do is a war between two cities that are join together. THINK PEOPLE THINK. CRIME IS EVERY WHERE. TURN ON THE NEWS WATCH IT!!!
