It was huge turnout for a back to school party in Sue Haswell Park in Bryan.
The Concerned Black Men of the Brazos Valley organized the event, with 1,300 kids and their parents taking advantage of the free games, lunch and school supplies.
Group members say the purpose is to get kids and their parents excited about school, as well as to educate adults about how to better support their childrens' education.
"It's so parents understand about the curriculum about making a quiet place for them to study making sure they have breakfast when they get ready to go to school making sure they are supping them in getting their homework done," said Ronnie Jackson with the Concerned Black Men.
Attendees could also take home a sack of non-perishable food.
This is the group's fifth annual back-to-school party. Attendance more than doubled from last year.

Great organization - these guys have done lots of wonderful fundraisers for the community. I hope that parents of these kids will follow the examples you've set for them in this activity!
