Calif Top Court: Docs Can't Withhold Care To Gays

By  |

SAN FRANCISCO (AP) - California's high court has ruled that
doctors cannot withhold care to gays and lesbians based on their
religious beliefs.
The case stems from a San Diego-area lesbian's claim that a
private fertility clinic refused to inseminate her because of her
sexual orientation.
A unanimous state Supreme Court said that California's civil
rights law barring sexual orientation discrimination extends to
medical care.
