Natural disasters similar to the recent flooding in North Texas always make it hard for emergency crews to respond to the hardest hit areas, but there's a new vehicle on the market that could make that task much easier.
The TEEX Product Development Center displayed Wednesday morning the latest tool that first responders might be able to use in disaster situations.
The all-terrain track vehicle, or A.T.T.V., can climb up to a 60 degree vertical slope, roll over four-foot obstacles, track through snow or sand, and can even cruise in the water at a speed of five miles per hour.
"It's a perfect platform in the event of a disaster, or earthquake, tornado, or hurricane," said Gary Damon, president of Homeland Intelligence Technologies, which is distributing the vehicle. "You can deploy help to that area where the roads would normally be impassible."
The vehicle also can haul a trailer that can be modified into a communications command post or triage center, or even just haul supplies to distribute to victims of the disaster.

I not sure if Davis read the article. "Gary Damon, president of Homeland Intelligence Technologies, which is distributing the vehicle.". I don' recall ever seeing anything stating that the Sheriff's Office will deploy this vehicle. Some people are quick to insinuate.

The first thing I thought of when I saw the story about the all-terrain track vehicle was a new toy for Sheriff Chris Kirk. Yep the next time you see the A.T.T.V., it will have Brazos County Sheriff Dept. Shields on the doors. After all, cost is no concern when it comes to Kirk spending taxpayers money. I'm sure good ole Chris Kirk will give County Judge Randy Sims and Commissioner Kenny Mallard a spin or two around the Sheriff Department compound.
