A Bryan woman is dead and another man injured after an an early morning stabbing.
Monday evening, Michael Dewayne Young was arrested for the crime at a residence on Frontier. Authorities received a tip that Young was there, and he was picked up around 7:30pm Monday.
The murder happened just after 1am Monday at an apartment complex on Evergreen. Neighbors say they heard an argument and then found the two stabbing victims.
"I heard that my neighbor got killed," a Bryan resident said. "She was a real good lady."
Early Monday morning police were called to the 2000 block of Evergreen, after a man living in the area reported a stabbing.
"He said that he had heard a lot of commotion and when he checked on the situation and banged on the door and eventually was able to get inside and found two victims that had been stabbed," Jillian Garza with the Bryan Police Department said.
Mary Neeley, 44, was pronounced dead at the scene. Maxie Taylor, 61, received non-life threatening stab wounds and was taken to St. Joseph for treatment.
"She was a nice neighbor everybody loved her we're surprised it happened to her," a Bryan resident said.
Police have not released a motive for the stabbings.
"The whole neighborhood's concerned about them, concerned about what happened and we just hope they find who did it to them," a Bryan resident said.
The investigation is on-going as police interview witnesses and search for a reason behind the crime.
This murder makes three so far in Bryan this year.
