Traffic in Bryan was diverted Monday night after two young girls were hit while trying to cross the street.
They are sisters, ages 10 and 2. At last report, the oldest was in surgery after suffering severe head injuries.
Police say the two girls were with a babysitter. Apparently, the 10 year old was carrying her little sister across the street at Texas Avenue and Martin Luther King Street. The babysitter says she cried out for them to stop, but they did not. The girls were hit by a silver Toyota Corolla.
The 2 year old was uninjured.
The driver of the car is cooperating with police.
