A mobile unit from the Mexican Consulate's office in Houston is making a stop in Bryan. Saturday, Mexican immigrants can apply for matricula consular identification cards and passports. The unit will take applications from 8:30am to 12:30pm at Santa Teresa Catholic Church at 1212 Lucky St., in Bryan.
To apply for an identification card you need a Mexican birth certificate, proof of United States address, and a photo identification card from Mexico. The cost is $27 and the card is valid for five years.
The consulate's office says the ID cards make it easier for law enforcement to identify individuals and many banks take them to open accounts. This will mark the third time the consulate's office has come to Bryan.
