College Station Police were on scene Wednesday when a home on Cross Timbers Drive was burglarized.

After thieves kicked in the door, they stole two flat screens, a desktop computer, a bottle of liquor, an iPod, a gaming system, and other electronics.

Down the street, Vanessa Loftis-Peavy could relate. About two weeks ago she had the exact same items taken.

"Nobody was home, obviously there no cars in the driveway and all the lights were off," said Loftis-Peavy.

Vanessa's three pups were at a sitter. When she returned home, not only were her living room electronics missing but her bedroom had been ransacked.

"They knocked my bed everywhere, threw it off the frame and searched underneath," said Loftis-Peavy.

She says the burglars broke her dresser in the process of going through her clothes.

Then cleaned out her jewelry box.

"My dad's wedding ring, of course that was kinda sad," said Loftis-Peavy.

Vanessa's father passed away when she was eight. While there are some things she can't put a price on, Loftis-Peavy says she was missing over $6,000 worth of items.

"Its stuff you work hard to get. Just to have somebody take it from you is kinda rude," said Loftis-Peavy.

College Station police say they are putting additional patrols in the area, and have made some recent arrests.

"Subsequent to those arrests we recovered a lot of property," said Lieutenant Rodney Sigler with the College Station Police Department.

Among the property recovered, was one of Loftis-Peavy's plasma televisions. She got it back Wednesday.

College Station police are still investigating the home and auto burglaries in the area around Cross Timbers Drive.

Police say 45 homes were burglarized in College Station in the last 30 days which is an eight percent increase from this time last year.

They say across the city, car burglaries are down 10% from this time last year.

Building burglaries are up 52%. Police say they've seen 33 between July 27 and August 27.

I would urge everyone that does not own a handgun to acquire one. On a good day it will take the police 5 minutes to arrive when you call them. One a day when the roads are congested because the Aggie's are whipping up on UT at Kyle field you will be lucky if an officer can get to you in 20 minutes. A handgun will stop your intruder in under a second. The police have the best of intentions and I believe they do everything in their power to make the community safer. With that in mind, they are only human. You have to fend for yourself. Burglar alarms, Karate, mace and stun guns provide a false sense of security. The handgun is the only effective tool a 130 pound woman, like me, can use effectively to level the playing field.

Racist.....that will never stop as long as you this world goes on. Its just like oprah she rich everyone love what she's done in the past. Without the money that she has. She just another black person that will get stereotyped. I'm a black so .... does that mean that i'm not going to get robbed. Don't get wrong me i'm not racist I have friends that are white, hispanic, arabic etc. What this come to is that police department, city council etc. need to work harder to make it better. I'm scared to get nice rims on my car. I dont want to work hard for nuthing to get anything stolen from me or even get killed because it was something material. I don't think anyone want that.

Posted by: Lynn Location: Bryan on Sep 1, 2008 at 07:38 AM
Cateyes- You made a good point for yourself until you made the comment "I am getting tired of being stereotyped by College Station's white trash." I almost had respect for you.

Posted by: heh Location: bryan on Aug 31, 2008 at 11:00 PM
Wow. More complaints about how the police ought to be doing their jobs and northgate is a waste of manpower and the red-light cameras are bothersome and the police are lazy and the police should be 'catching criminals' instead of writing tickets.... Doesn't it ever get tiresome to make the same complaints over and over? (It's certainly tiresome to hear them.) How about we 1. hire more cops and pay them better (so we can hire and retain better cops) and 2. take some personal responsibility for our own security and welfare? Incidentally, the 'Northgate chick checker brigade' or whatever they're being called now...didn't that originate around the time we had a rash of stabbings up at Northgate? Hmm, yep, better not have any police presence around a large number of intoxicated people, I'm sure there's no probability of violence there...

Posted by: student Location: CS on Aug 31, 2008 at 09:58 PM
Someone PLEASE identify all of these Section 8 apartments in Bryan, and, particularly College Station. The government HUD lists only two places in Bryan that accepts housing vouchers, and those are for old people!

Posted by: Cateyes Location: College Station on Aug 31, 2008 at 09:53 PM
I have read some people's comments and I appreciate the ones that were not trying to point the finger at stereotyping. I get so upset with drug dealers, Hud recipients, low life's etc etc people representing me. I travel a lot and this is the only town were I feel I have to be just as racist as the next. I am tired of not being able to live here or there because of my color but then you want to complain that Bryan is bad but thats where you try and put all of us. The only difference from me is I do work and I do support myself. There are a lot of black people that do live in College Station and Bryan who is not worried about stealing from you. We have never been to jail and when we leave our homes we have the same fear as you. Now tell me this is a black person not going to rob my house because I am black? No they are going to rob my house because like in all races there are bad people. I am getting tired of being stereotyped by College Station's white trash.

Maybe KBTX should do some investigating reporting about the local HUD office. Local landlords and the police departments could provide some interesting information.

Posted by: Anonymous on Aug 31, 2008 at 06:51 PM
Go to the local HUD office and ask for the address of where to report HUD violations and fraud. The local HUD office is corrupt and they need to be reported. The local HUD office knows that their clients are violating HUD rules but these criminals are not kick off the program.

Wow, here comes another hurricane. Do we roll out the red carpet again or insist they pick up all the thugs they left here last time on their way back??? Clearly, there are some terrific people coming in due to the storm, but honestly I think New Orleans has more to do with our crime than Bryan.

Posted by: Fighting Mad Location: Texas on Aug 31, 2008 at 10:03 AM
Everyone complaining on here is not going to fix the problem. If you think it is bad now, just wait until all of those refugees show up. The officials are not going to do anything about the crime problem until every citizen stands up and says "We are not going to take it anymore". Trust me, they know where the votes come from. The officials think they are doing the right thing by trucking in all of the displaced refugees running from a hurricane. They are looking at it thinking, "Everyone is going to think B/CS is so nice for taking in all of these homeless people". Not realizing that they just shot thierselves in the foot. Start complaining to the city council, and mayor. They will get the picture and realize that all of these no working, drug dealing, thieving self made poverty level beggers are not worth the trouble.

As students move to nicer houses and apartments the old one turn to HUD. This is the problem Bryan has now. The students moved to nicer new housing in CS and HUD rats moved in with drugs.

i agree ,they should drug test for these programs.you can report volations to hud and never see anything done.you take things in your own hands and group together and youve have a army to fight for your rights.i ended up here,on hud,i was in a womens shelter,it was either i stay in my marriage an be killed or this.i chose working my way up from the bottom and hopefully i will get out of this. there are a lot of olderpeople on these programs that cant make it on what they receive for s.s,they are good people. Then there are the ones that think u owe them, dont work,do drugs, party all night, litter, hit yor cars, deal drugs in front of anybody, throw beer bottles for fun,it goes on an on.its sad how crime has become for helping victims from floods, because they think we still owe them.im sick of this but have to hang in till i can reach the top of the ladder.i feel 4 people whom work so hard to have nice things an low lifes dont blink twice to think how hard it was to get the things we have.

Posted by: Anonymous on Aug 30, 2008 at 01:25 AM
We in CS live next to one of the most crime filled cities in Texas. The nearer you get to it the higher the crime rate.

Posted by: Anonymous Location: College Station on Aug 30, 2008 at 12:14 AM
I have lived on Cross Timbers for 5 years, and when I moved here the area was very nice. I am so sorry that crime has had such a sharp incline in an area I call my home. Some of us who live on Cross Timbers work very hard for a living and it shouldn't really be questioned why we have expensive items in our homes. It is completely absurd to lay the blame on the victims whose homes were broken into as some comments have suggested. I wish our neighborhood was still safe, but until things begin to change, I will be shopping for a new home.

Posted by: Anonymous Location: TRAPPED BY BRYAN HUD RATS. on Aug 29, 2008 at 11:30 PM
HUD is the main reason for all the crime we have in Bryan.

Posted by: Anonymous on Aug 29, 2008 at 06:27 PM
Drug testing---- Make it a crime to live in a Hud house and use drugs. Crime will go down and people will move back to LA.

Posted by: Anonymous Location: CS on Aug 29, 2008 at 05:41 PM
If you hear of HUD housing coming to your neighborhood, FIGHT IT!!! I use to live in that part of town, and the HUD units were bad news. Sure, there are some decent people living there, but there's plenty of scum as well - the sort of scum that feel that you don't deserve your flat panel, they do. Another thing, if you get picked for jury duty and you want to clean up this town, don't settle for anything less than maximum sentences for this sort of thing. Move these lowlifes over to Huntsville where they belong. Finally, owning a gun, being trained how to use it, and regularly going to the range is a good idea.

Posted by: Anonymous Location: BCS on Aug 29, 2008 at 12:50 PM
I live in Bryan. I had the same problem. I contacted the Police and made reports. The police advised me that the crime high do to the HUD housing in Bryan. 2-times in a years two different officers. The also told me we had more HUD housing in Bryan for its size then any city in Texas. I now have a gun.

Posted by: Kevin Location: Pebble Creek on Aug 29, 2008 at 10:40 AM
Definitely right, Anon. Drug tests to receive welfare, no assistance for thieves, violent offenders or illegal immigrants. Why not concentrate all the government housing in one area? Why import crime to nice areas?

Posted by: laura Location: iola on Aug 29, 2008 at 09:11 AM
i think the judges needs to do more, my house was broken into, me and husband did not have much everything we had he worked very hard for it. they caught him may i add he been in and out of jail since 13 years old and he broken into almost every house on our street.but he didnt do the time for breaking into our but did the time for upper white ppl house,so let blame the judges in brazos country the only thing they are worry about a pay check.(may i add i am white too so did not a racism thing)O, and the reason they would not charge him for the crime because we got most of things back. that sad, maybe they need to what grimes co. does "you do the crime you do the time"

Posted by: Anonymous on Aug 29, 2008 at 09:00 AM
I bet many of you would not be making these comments if it were happening to you. People are not being robbed because they left their bulk trash out a week early and someone saw empty tv boxes. And the comments about this being safter than Houston, well that's just common sense. No one mentioned that this area was worse than Houston or Dallas, but for a city our size, the number of houses and cars that have been hit on this street in the last couple of weeks are very high. Sure, it's from the low income housing (even the cops have told us that), but until the police step up their presence in the area, it will continue to happen. The whole point of the story was that the residents of this street are mad that after all these reports, the police did nothing more than they were doing before. Hopefully with a little media attention, our area will be safe again.

"GUESS THE COLLEGE STATION P.D. NEEDS TO INSTALL CAMERAS IN AREAS WHERE THIS IS TAKING PLACE," Do you REALLY REALLY WANT a camera watching your front and back yard 24/7 watching everything YOU are doing??? "MAYBE YOUR ITEMS ARE NOT AS IMPORTANT AS MAKING THE ALMIGHTY DOLLAR!!!" Hey, if they COULD get permission and wanted to watch every residential street with nightscope cameras, the MIPs and PIs and parking violatins alone would be at least a 100 times what the Redlight cameras are picking up...

Posted by: Dallas Location: College Station on Aug 29, 2008 at 03:10 AM
Oh, and I'm glad to see that CSPD's model of "if we go after the minor crimes (traffic, alcohol, etc.) it will reduce the major crime. Clearly.

Posted by: Dallas Location: College Station on Aug 29, 2008 at 03:07 AM
At least we've got really nice red light cameras and our very own under cover unit at northgate looking for underage drinking, etc. Thank you, CSPD.

Posted by: Anonymous Location: BRYAN on Aug 28, 2008 at 10:01 PM
WELL IT SHOULD NOT TAKE A WISE PERSON TO KNOW THAT THE PROBLEM COMES FROM THE GOVERNMENT HOUSING UNITS THAT ARE ON SOUTHWEST PWKY. LOOK AT THE JUSTICE WEB SITE FOR THE COUNTY @ www.justiceweb.co.brazos.tx.us AND SEE WHO ARE LIVING IN THOSE UNITS. THEY USE YOUR TAX DOLLARS FOR HOUSING AND THEN USE YOUR PROPERTY THEY STEAL FOR DRUGS. THERE NEEDS TO BE A SYSTEM, THAT WHEN YOU ARE INVOLVED IN CRIME YOU SHOULD NOT BE ALLOWED TO LIVE IN GOVERNMENT HOUSING, YOU SHOULD LOSE THEIR HELP.

Posted by: Anonymous on Aug 28, 2008 at 09:47 PM
Anonymous at 2:33 - that is excellent advice. Or take the large trash to the landfill and no one will be the wiser. No one should be breaking in and taking stuff regardless, but be aware of your surroundings and make safe choices.

Alex,,you are a piece of work....if it weren't for the "illegals" building your houses,,,where would all you rich "white" people live? This is if you can come down off your high hose long enough to live in one. The illegals as you call them, aren't the ones committing a majority of the crime,,,you are just plain IGNORANT!! You are turning this thread into something it isn't......idiot!!

Posted by: Anonymous Location: bryan on Aug 28, 2008 at 09:30 PM
GUESS THE COLLEGE STATION P.D. NEEDS TO INSTALL CAMERAS IN AREAS WHERE THIS IS TAKING PLACE, INSTEAD OF TRYING TO CATCH SOMEONE RUNNING A RED LIGHT. NOT TO MENTION SOME OF THEIR OWN OFFICERS AT THESE INTERSECTIONS. MAYBE YOUR ITEMS ARE NOT AS IMPORTANT AS MAKING THE ALMIGHTY DOLLAR!!!

Posted by: theDoctor Location: Bryan on Aug 28, 2008 at 05:01 PM
I agree with an earlier post. The title makes it seem like the police are not doing anything. While I do hope that these criminals are caught, crime in this area is still no where near like it is in Houston or Dallas where I come from. I just saw a story from Houston where a group of six-year olds were mugged for their money while on the way home from school. They were attacked by three grown ups. So, we do not have anything like that happening here so lets work with the police and stop talking about them.

well alot of people are griping about the ticket writers at CSPD and blaming it on them, but truth be told in all departments it's the city council, mayor, or county judge/commisioners that pressure the PD or SO to write more tickets and the money goes to the city, very little goes to the department. So stop blaming us and start talking to your council members. And soon as a kid gets killed at the school by a speeder the public will b screaming, "Where were the cops" oh they're looking for burglars, so it's loose loose for us. We will help u when u call and will do our best to prevent crime everywhere I promise

i have no beefs with bryan or college station. i know everyone knows crimes everywhere,i live over by corner of dartmouth an southwest parkway. i agree this area can be better, get rid of the thugs an drugs and we"ll all be happy.police dept can only do so much,so we have formed a watch to get something done, write your car plates down, docement everything, take ur pic, whatever it takes.

Cathy get off it. Look up the facts. Bryan crime rate is higher than Houston per capita in many areas rated by the FBI. In 4 of the 7 areas used to gauge crime by the FBI Bryan is higher than Houston. SEE WWW AREA CONNECT CRIME Compare.com Bryan is the place most criminals in CS come from. CS has one of the lowest rates in Texas. Bryan one of the Highest in Texas.

PUT YOUR BULK TRASH OUT THE NIGHT BEFORE, NOT A WEEK BEFORE. NO ONE WILL KNOW THAT YOU AND YOUR ROOMMATES JUST DROPPED 5G'S ON ELECTRONICS. OR PUT IT OUT THE MORNING OF. WE JUST HAVE TO BE SMARTER.

Posted by: Anonymous on Aug 28, 2008 at 02:23 PM
If Glen Brown and other city officials really cared about the City of CS they would give the CSPD more money to hire more officers to do their jobs, however that would require some actual thought and consideration, not very high on his list of characteristics. If he wants the pd to use the sources they already have then lets take the pd officers out of schools and send them to patrol the streets. The city is run by highly educated people that lack one thing - common sense.

Posted by: Anonymous on Aug 28, 2008 at 02:18 PM
look there is woody looking for trouble again. I bet he really lives in bryan and wants people to think he lives in college station. he is always picking on bryan people.

To Melissa...if it means one less meal out every month or cutting out unneccessary driving or whatever, then anyone can "afford" $30/mo. It's all about managing money...anyone can do it, but it means cutting out the BS spending. Also...No, I shouldn't HAVE to have an alarm system on my house...but that's the society we live in now. Thugs live off the system (my tax dollars), and instead of spending their days working and taking care of their families (like the rest of us), they run a life of crime. So yes, I have an OBLIGATION to keep my family safe, and I will do whatever I have to do to accomplish that!

Posted by: Cathy Location: College Station on Aug 28, 2008 at 01:35 PM
The area around Crosstimbers Drive has become a ghetto. There is trash everywhere, broken beer, whiskey and wine bottles, ratty sofas and broken furniture lying everywhere, kids running wild without supervision. While jogging recently, I saw a bra, a pair of women's panties, and a used condom in the Shell Station parking lot (corner of Dartmouth @ SW Parkway). Certain people have taken over Central Park; now I'm afraid to go there with my children. Crime in CS is now as bad as it is in Houston. Are you listening, CSPD?

Posted by: Paul Location: B/CS on Aug 28, 2008 at 01:28 PM
Alex, you hit the nail on the head. Since Oklahoma passed their anti-illegal laws, they are flooding Texas more and more. Look in the kitchen at virtually any chain restaurant in town and the vast majority of prep workers, cooks and bus boys are illegal immigrant.

Posted by: Life Long Native Location: Bryan on Aug 28, 2008 at 01:15 PM
It is a fact that as a population increases in an area, so will the crime rate. Our nation really needs to overhaul the criminal justice/penal systems. Rehabilitation is not the answer in most cases. Hard time, day for day, is what is needed. There is not enough prison bed space or county jail bed space. The county jails get stuck holding paper ready inmates awaiting acceptance into the state(s) prisons. This creates problems in getting serious jail time (2 years max in Texas) assigned to those that have committed serious misdemeanor offenses. Sadly, property crimes are not high priority, because the prisons have to house so many violent & sex offenders nowadays. They have to release some so called "low risk" inmates early, so that they can accept new inmates. I heard that Governor Perry alloted something like 2 billion dollars last year to build more state prisons. I have no clue as to how many full service prisons that would build, but I do know it would build many tent cities!

Posted by: Gabe Location: CS on Aug 28, 2008 at 01:09 PM
hey anonymous 9:25 the red light cameras aren't going anywhere. They only have to be serviced once a year, they don't gripe, they don't get insurance or benefits and they are a constant, reliable source of income. You'd be smart to expect MORE not less.

Posted by: John Location: College Station on Aug 28, 2008 at 01:08 PM
For CSPD the equation is very simple: catching criminals COSTS money; ticketing motorists MAKES money. Thus, ticketing motorists is where most effort is expended. Could the economics be more elementary?

Posted by: AB Location: CS on Aug 28, 2008 at 01:02 PM
John...I totally agree! I would bet they could build a new city hall (if it's THAT important) for half that, then that would give another $19M to put into community resources! But I wouldn't really expect our city officials to think logically...we pay them too much for them to use common sense!

I wish I could afford plasmas, ipods, gaming systems and nice jewelry!!! I feel sorry for those who've been robbed but wow, nice stuff! Be very very thankful u can afford the stuff in the first place! Spend some of mommy and daddy's money for a security system maybe?

Posted by: Life Long Native Location: Bryan on Aug 28, 2008 at 12:28 PM
Most of the time, the patrol officers are tied up running from 1 call to the next and trying to complete their paperwork in between. Some things that some folks could do to assist their police officers is to quit calling for and tying up officers on the most trivial things. If you need legal advice, contact an attorney. If your child disrespects you, get out the belt (IN MODERATION!). Drive defensively and carefully and try your very best to avoid a collision. Keep the parties and loud music down. Become neighbors again and work together instead of expecting the police to respond and resolve every little dispute. If you witness suspicious activity, by all means call the police. It is going to take the good citizens of our community working with the police to get a handle on criminal activity. It would be nice to have space in the county jails and prisons so that the offenders could spend some quality time there, instead of repeating their criminal activity. Just my 2 cents worth.

Posted by: Terry Location: CS on Aug 28, 2008 at 12:04 PM
Heather, the actual clip on the news said CSPD caught some of the burglars and recovered a lot of stolen property, I'm sure that's how she got her TV back.

This is no surprise, the same thing happened to my home in Bryan years ago. A rash of burglaries in our neighborhood and we didn't find out about them till our home had been broken into. Maybe start a new procedure, that if house is broken into in a neighborhood, let the whole neighborhood know. Send out a letter, put something in our mailbox so we can keep an eye out, add a dead bolt, put our valubles in a safer place. Give us the information so we can protect/defend our selves and our property. We work too hard to have someone waltz in a destroy/steal not only our property but our trust. Something that would help, know your neighbor, say hi, walk your neighborhood.

Posted by: Melissa Location: College Station on Aug 28, 2008 at 11:15 AM
To AP...would you like to pay the $30/month for me. Not everyone can spend money on a alarm system and you shouldn't have to.

Posted by: CT Resident on Aug 28, 2008 at 11:00 AM
I live on Cross Timbers and to address some of these comments...most people are renters, not homeowners, and actually a majority of us are NOT college students. I can assure you that we are keeping a watch out for suspicious people. Most of this theft has occurred in the last 2-3 weeks, and police presence has not stepped up. Hopefully with the media attention, they will keep a better watch out for this area so we can finally feel safe.

Posted by: John Location: CS on Aug 28, 2008 at 10:51 AM
Perhaps the city council should dump the bond election of $38 million for a city hall and change it to putting that money towards training and hiring more police officers and fire fighters. I'm positive a $38 million dollar city hall will not solve any problems for the city.

Posted by: res Location: CS on Aug 28, 2008 at 10:47 AM
I used to live on Crosstimbers...and I remember the ppl that walked from the low-income housing apts right down the street. That is the same place in which 2 babies were shaken/beaten to death in less that 2 yrs. Seems like there are some bad apples in that neighborhood. I saw children playing outside until midnight w/ no supervision. What should the community do to help these people? More ministry intervention? More ppl stepping up to help? More police presence? I don't have any answers...I'm just stating what I saw. What's sad is that I spoke to one mother, and she is raising her 3 kids...her sister's kids, and her brothers girlfriends baby whom the father abandoned. Can you imagine the stress involved w/ that? It's no wonder there is desperation/abuse/neglect in the area. It's one thing to have police protection after the fact, and its another thing to go into the community and offer a stranger help.

See if Joe Horn will move to CS. Wall off bryan. The crime rate will go down.

KBTX reported the other day a group of Bryan residents were doing home invasion burglaries with AK-47's here in College Station. Did these Bryan men bond out already?

Posted by: Robert Location: College Station on Aug 28, 2008 at 10:03 AM
So what does the title of this clip have to do with the story? They made it sound like the police were doing nothing about the crime and the citizens were not going to put up with it anymore..Grow up College Station and realize that you are the problem for the crime, you do not want your police doing anything to hurt your feelings or arresting your alcoholic college kids, you want a police dept. that just looks good but stay's out of your way...This is what you get for your ignorance!

Posted by: Alex Location: Bryan on Aug 28, 2008 at 09:59 AM
CPA Graduate - not necessarily more cops. You could just get rid of the illegal aliens loitering everywhere. You could even have fewer cops if that were the case saving even MORE money. But instead everyone turns a blind eye to the cession of ENITRE APARTMENT COMPLEXES to illegals (what back-room deal was struck for that, I wonder). I'm speaking of the area around University Oaks and (appropriately) George Bush E. So, in order to escape the encroaching Mexification, people flee the surrounding neighborhood. This creates an artificial "housing boom" of houses further and further South....built by MORE illegals. When you people wake up, you are going to be wondering why you have such a long commute for such a small town and why all the street signs in central College Station are in Spanish and why the crime is so high there.

Posted by: Anonymous Location: College Station on Aug 28, 2008 at 09:25 AM
Stop putting all the money in the camera on these street lights and hire more police officers. Then if the target is that neigborhood how do you know its not someone that lives in that area...

Hey, folks. If you see something or someone that looks "odd" or out of place in your neighborhood, whip out your cell and take a picture; you don't have to send it anywhere unless you hear the next day that some kind of crime occurred, and if nothing criminal happens in the next week or so, you can just delete it. But it makes the criminals casing a street real nervous whenever they see somebody taking that kind of interest in them and they usually just go elsewhere...

Maybe if CSPD didn't use 4 motorcycle patrols at AMCMS middle school every morning, they could have more officers patrolling those ares when hard working people go to work. But they seem more interested in handing out $300 tickets than catching actual criminals. Maybe its because we are easier targets???

Like Citizen II said, if the cops would quit scoping out girls in Northgate, they might be able to make some arrests for real criminals.

so does anyone know how the girl in this story got her plasma TV back. I mean, where did they find it?

You know, it's only $30/month to pay for an alarm system that will notify you and the cops when it goes off. Not to mention you'll get a credit on your homeowners insurance, so it really comes out to about $20/mo. It's amazing how technology has advanced, and yet people don't take advantage! I rest easy having that assurance and safety. If I lived in the areas where all the burglaries have been taking place, I wouldn't hesitate to get one installed.

OH.... Now crime is every where??? Not so funny when it happens in your own town is it??? I feel sorry for the people who were effect by this. It's happend to me twice and they still haven't found the robbers. Maybe CSPD will have better luck finding them. Hopefully you CS people will think twice before bashing Bryan again.

CSPD has enough officers to effectively patrol the city, prob need to pull some off of traffic enforcement and put them in neighborhoods. Just a suggestion.

Perhaps the new castle law will be used here as in Houston. If we neighbors will look after each other as good neighbors should and take action as in Houston, where a neighbor shot two burglers who were leaving the scene of their CRIME. This might make the theives move to a country where guns are outlawed.

we dont have this kinda problem at north gate, if you know what i mean.

Neighborhood Watches or just plain neighbors watching out for each other, are the biggest factor in catching these types of crimes, not the police. They can't be there 24-7, as soon as they leave the criminals will notice, or they will just move to another neighborhood.

Surely with all the money these people in that neighborhood are spending on luxury items, plasma and flat screen tvs, ipods, gaming systems, etc, which they clearly value -- they might invest in a security system to protect their items. Or maybe their parents can pay for it. Hope they had renter's insurance to cover those items.

Attn all units: Our micro-economy is built around A&M. Let's keep a great reputation for our town so Mom and Dad feel safe in sending their kid to A&M. This means that real police work is needed everyday. Something looks odd or illegal, stop the "person of interest" and talk with them.

I am from Bryan and not about to bash anybody for having to deal with these worthless knuckleheads ruining decent peoples way of life or their sense of safety and security. I believe the answer is tougher enforcement. Over the last six months, I have read more stories about people causing these problems and if they are caught, we hear about this laundry list of prior convictions. Three Strikes, You are out. If someone is caught robbing, stealing, vandalizing, criminal mischief, they are out the next day doing it again. Fining these people is not going to curb the crime, lock them up, send them to Huntsville or sheriff Arpayo in Arizona. Give them a reality scare. I am tired of being scared.

Wow 45 houses in 30 days. That has to be some kind of urban record! What to watch for is the lookout guy in the entrance to the neiborhood or exit to main street. That is where the lookout guy will be posted up. Thanks to technology, cell phones are key in robberies. This is the way they do it in the country too. Look for suspicous vehicles parked in key places! Then the robbers have all day to search your house, the second the phone rings from there lookout, they are gone!

College Station Police were patrolling the Cross Timbers neighbor hood lastnight. When I got up to let the dogs out this morning there was a police officer in his patrol car, lights out scoping out the neighborhood. What a welcome site after what we've been going through. I think my wife will sleep better tonight. Thank you College Station Police. Thank you KBTX!

Remember, Clancy was fired for saying he needed more cops? And I know that the division that handles coordinating Neighborhood Watch groups can't seem to interest anybody in keeping an eye out for the folks next door. Yea, Yea, I know, folks are going to scream that we need to let people blow through the school zones at 70 and have head ons and t bones at all the traffic lights so we can put one or two more officers patrolling the residential areas, but if you'd take a little time to go through the local cop shops, you'd see just how little diffence that would make in burglaries and how BIG a difference it would make in your car insurance rates.

LET THE POLICE DO THEIR JOB! This means we will convict the scum when they are sent to court. POLICE: school is in session. When you see a 14 yr old kid walking around aimlessly, check on him. Make sure he is doing alright. Then start asking questions. When he flubbers, haul the scum to jail. WE DON'T WANT ANOTHER HOUSTON THAT IS OUT OF CONTROL!

This angers me big time and I hope these guys get caught. And before you Bryan folks even start to bash us dont even do it because crime is every where. This is a serious matter that needs to be taken care of.
