John McCain has chosen Alaska Governor Sarah Palin to be his running mate.

Palin, 44, is a reform-minded governor in Alaska who's challenged the party's old guard, attacked pork-barrel spending and taken a keen interest in energy and environmental issues.

A former Miss Alaska runnerup, Palin holds a degree in journalism and has five children, including one with Down Syndrome.

The announcement is scheduled at midday in Daton, Ohio.
Palin is a first-term governor credited with reforms of her out of the way state.

I think it is uterly rediculous that they are making such a big deal out of her daughter being pregnant. My daughter had a baby at age 17. Its not something U wish would happen, she started getting serious with this boy and I took her down and put her on the pill. I stood my daughter and yes I help with my beautiful grand-daughter. Its just another step in life YOU DEAL WITH. Their are alot worse things our children could do. No my daughter is not strung out on drugs or selling her body. That would be something to be ashamed of. So all you can do is hope and pray your grand baby is normal and healthy and spoilem rotten when he or she comes into the world. Thank you.

Posted by: RJ Location: Texas on Sep 2, 2008 at 05:00 PM
Enough already, please. Alright, her daughter is having a baby. So what. Not my business and I really would hope it wouldn't be any of yours. But isn't it "ironic" that she is being more criticized by women than anybody else, regardless of party. So Palin can't pursue an office b/c of having a family? Yet, somehow, someway, the glass ceiling has to be broken. How did Hillary do it and not face this complaint? Its just like people who have criticized Obama for not being "black enough" whatever that means or McCain for not being "conservative enough". Come on, you can't have it both ways. And last time I checked, this problem of teenage pregnancy is not limited to her family. In fact, lots of them occupy workplaces, classrooms, and church pews all across this country. Someone has to take the first step to transcend all of this and frankly, as a man, I wish I didn't have to laugh but I do b/c some women who want to propel her forward and higher are the same ones who criticize her. Enough!

If you support McCain: Vote for him If you support Obama: Vote for him and keep your comments to yourself, because everyone has their own vote. Stop worrying about who everyone else supports and Vote in the election in November. Stop posting comments unless they are positive. Grow up and worry about your own children.

The liberals are well aware of the fact Husein Obama does not meet the constitutional requirements to become president. In typical liberal fashion they will sue to try and get their way when the law does not allow it. Sometimes this works for them (Imminent Domain being used to increase tax revenue) and sometimes it does not work for them. (Al Gore 2000 election) When liberals can not get their way through congress or an election they throw tantrums like spoiled children and cry to the courts. Husein Obama is as legally eligible to be president as my daughter's goldfish. The only real difference is the goldfish was born in America, is smarter and has more life experience than Husein Obama.

Hey anon - it'd be nice if you learned the difference between your (possessive) and you're (the contration that means 'you are') before you start calling people ignorant. Family values? How about raising 5 kids. When faced with the reality of a potentially special needs child, Palin chose to keep her baby. When faced with a 17 year old pregnant daughter, they chose to keep the baby. That is family values to me. As someone given up for adoption in 1969 and told later by my birth mother that if abortion had been legal she'd have 'taken the easy way out,' I'd say Gov. Palin mirrors my opinion of family values. I just filled out my very first voter registration and I plan to vote McCain/Palin in November!

You can't understand because you're an idiot. Obama was born in Hawaii in 1961. 2 years AFTER Hawaii became the 50th US state. He is 47 years od, the same age I am, and he has lived in the US since 1971. If you would EDUCATE yourself you would know these things.

So then my mother would be a hypocrite because she doesn't believe in pre-marital sex and yet I ended up being an unwed teenaged mother. Give me a break. Can you ALL control what your kids do when you aren't around? I seriously doubt it. You want to talk about hypocrites--look in the mirror. I am now grown with a teenage son and even though I made a mistake at his age he knows that premarital sex is wrong. I don't consider that hypocrisy, I consider that sharing my wisdom. Before any of you make a smart comment, he knows he is loved and I don't regret HIM. Lay off the lady. I'll be alot of you out there were in the same situation or have a family member or friend that was.

Posted by: dave Location: CS on Sep 2, 2008 at 11:18 AM
VP really doesn't do anything. Harry Truman had friends over and played cards in the white house while FDR was his boss. But I think it still represents a step in the right direction.

The gist of this campaign is that for the 1st time in a long while the Democrats are fighting back. We're all human and we are not perfect so let's stick to issues. We won't always agree on them that's why there are 2 parties so that we can vote for the person who most nearly represents our way of thinking. Like it or not we need balance in our politics so we have members from both parties in DC. Our job as voters is to get that balance right so that we have the representation we deserve. These people work for us, so when you vote ask yourself who's application was better for that position. I don't think we need the nit-picking, we need real issues answered. I don't care that McCain has multiple houses, I care about his abilities or lack there of. I know that we need changes and we need someone capable of instituting them. God Bless America

She is no more responsible for her daughters pregnancy than Geraldine Ferraro is responsible for her sons drug arrest. She is no more responsible for her daughter's pregnancy than Albert Gore is responsible for his son's arrest on drug and reckless driving charges. She is no more responsible for her daughter's pregnancy than Billy Jeff Clinton is responsible for his brother, Roger, getting hauled to jail on drug charges. Sometimes people use poor judgement. The only difference here is Bristol Palin is a minor. All the others were adults when they made poor choices.

Its not hypocritical to want to keep your family business in the family. Its funny how everyone was told not to make fun of gangly teen Chelsea Clinton (who is gorgeous now by the way) but Jenna Bush using a fake ID to buy margaritas was front page news (and don't try to act like you didn't do that or know friends who did it). We're told not to judge Michele Obama's comments she made ON THE CAMPAIGN TRAIL but its okay to imply that Palin's youngest son isn't really her son, its her daughter's son. The ridiculous, two-facedness of liberals is disturbing. They annoint Hillary the standard for working women then give Palin a hard time for working instead of staying home with her Downs Syndrome son. Your party is a JOKE! I attend a local church and we have many teenage girls who are pregnant. We don't judge them, we love them. Being a Christian doesn't mean you're perfect nor should you be expected to be. We're all sinners, the 1st person who thinks they're not is WRONG!

Posted by: GOP Location: College Station on Sep 2, 2008 at 09:47 AM
I think it is good that we have a republican who will understand better the trails of a unwed mother. Well, at least we have a running mate who will encourage the president to increase the amount of money needed for food stamps and medicare for un-wed mothers. I am sure that she will encourage increasing employment by hiring more child support workers to track down dead beat dads. Finally, a GOP candidate that the democrats can identify with.

Posted by: Aggie12 Location: Walton Hall on Sep 2, 2008 at 09:38 AM
I agree with the post by "she's a hypocrite" If this was the Clintons or Baraks family the republicans would have made this a major issue. Palin makes all this talk about family values and you have her teenage daughter out there having a baby and not married. I wish her daughter well, but don't try to sell the voters this bill of goods that you are this wall of morality when your daughter is out there giving it up and getting pregnant. The Bush girls did not come up pregnant neither did the Clinton child, so to me both of them have more character than this woman. What eles do we not know about her?

Posted by: Dam-o-crat Location: CS on Sep 2, 2008 at 09:34 AM
Obama made a statement once that if his kids had made a mistake, why should they have to be punshied with a baby. I guess he thinks Mrs. Palin's daughter should just KILL IT.

Posted by: she's a hypocrite on Sep 2, 2008 at 07:33 AM
I wonder if Gov. Palin will change her abstinence-only sex-ed position now. Or is that just good for everyone else's kids. If this had been about a young, unwed black woman; or a celebrity, the conservatives would have been all over it questioning her character and preaching about family values, morals, and how abstinence is the only way to prevent teen pregnancies. Instead, because she is one of their own, she’s "facing up to her mistake" and they defend her for "courageously coming public with it." But no one should talk about it because it's a "personal family matter."

First a black, now a woman. Oh well, the VP doesn't do anything anyway.

Article 2 Clause 5 of the United States Constitution says that you have to be natural born citizens of the United States. At least 35 years old & inhabitants of at least 14 year in the United States. If all 3 items have to be upheld, how does Obama should he win the election, leagally become our President??

Posted by: Kay on Sep 1, 2008 at 10:24 PM
I think that Palin's pregnant daughter shows no insight into how she would run the country. I think it shows that she's human and her family isn't picture perfect. Now on top of getting pregnant at 17, which probably isn't the greatest thing to happen, her daughter has to have her pregnancy announced on CNN Breaking News. It shouldn't even be news.

Posted by: questioning? on Sep 1, 2008 at 09:12 PM
I believe if Palin daughter would just finish high school, and get an education that is what should be expected. See adding the getting married "later" is saying maybe "never". So since her mother is against abortion, how does she view unwed mothers? teen mothers? This can either get votes from women and others who are maybe undecided or it can change how would be supporters vote. Also, I don't feel the pregnancy should have been made public. What about the mother's right to privacy? did she want this on national news channels? everything that happens in a persons life isn't a made for Tv event.

While we are on the subject of children being born out of wedlock, lets take a moment to remember my personal favorite the Reverend Jesse Jackson. Reverend Jacka** made the decision to have an extramarital affair with Karin Stanford despite the fact he has been married to Jacqueline Jackson to since 1963. His daughter Ashley, was the byproduct of his affair with Karin Stanford. What kind of a Reverend would do such a thing? To quote you, "some ol fashioned Bible-beating values didn't get passed along here". It seems to me Barack Husein Obama would distance himself from a man that cheats on his wife of 45 years. He has not. However, Barack Husein Obama has not exercised the best of judgement when it comes to associating with reverends. He attended Reverend Jeremiah Wright's church for over 20 years. In addition, he has befriended a Catholic priest that believes every white person with an IRA or a 401K should have that account seized by the government for slavery reparations.

"Stop spreading lies..." you must have selective hearing! As I recall Obama said something to the effect of, "I feel that I need to do that." Well guess what, I need my next president to do that for me! I served my country in the US Air Force, I paid the price of serving my country, and I do not want some someone leading my nation when he can't even respect the Veterans and currentley serving military personnel enough to say the pledge or even put a lapel flag pin on!

Family Values? I can't believe that Palin would expose her pregnant daughter to the public/media scrutiny that comes with running for V.P. What kind of mother would do that??? She needs to take care of business at home rather that being on the road campaigning!!!!!

Posted by: Lisa Location: Madisonville on Sep 1, 2008 at 07:23 PM
I just hope whomever wins, does the right thing. get the military people home, help the united states to be independent. American's can get together and make our country a great one. What we need to do is help ourselves here, and stop going to other countries unless it is necessary. Non-violence to solve problems is what is needed. We want non-violence in schools, yet if that child goes into the military their thinking is changed to violence. Some way we say one thing and do another. I have a question? Has anyone seen an Iranian military uniform? When you see one, let me know.

Vote Libertarian! Go to www.lp.org to find the true meaning of Patriotism! Here are some facts about the libertarian party that you should know: Small government (less spending)= Lower taxes. Personal responsibility for your actions! Protect the constitution at all costs and especially the Bill of rights. Libertarians are ALL for owning guns contrary to what conservatives think. Religion should be kept separate from state. The wisdom of our founding father's who faced separation from the world's super power at the time had some great reasons to keep religion out of office. I see million dollar churches popping up every year off of Highway 6 and it sickens me. Who has the biggest church, the largest playground, the most influence. And its ALL TAX FREE!! Is that what Jesus would want? Or could you all stand under a tent w/no air conditioning, no playgrounds, no child daycare's and just pray. End the war, bring our troops home and stop trying to convert people to your faith. Hypocrisy?

How would Palin be less qualified than Obama. Governor of a state with executive leadership experience? Yes. Familiar with the smallest of details when it comes to energy issues? Yes. Familiar with issues relating to families, children, and the war? Yes. Last time I checked, Obama really doesn't have executive experience. She does, regardless of how small. Obama AND Biden, especially Biden, have had time to work on energy issues and they've come up with NOTHING. I'm willing to engage in civil discourse on these matters because I believe that while Obama has some characteristics I think are "good", I disagree with him on alot more. Palin truly is an agent of change because she is the ultimate Washington outsider. She is SO far removed from DC circles that she brings in more than a fresh voice, a new thought...She brings CHANGE. Besides, its better to have the #1 train the #2 than have the #2 train the #1, a la Cheney. Hello people! McCain/Palin 08 & 12.

What kind of state are we in when the people of the United states of America would consider electing anyone for President that would NOT pledge allegiance to his own country.

Posted by: Cynthia Location: Bryan on Sep 1, 2008 at 10:00 AM
To Jennifer: Obviously you won't ever be running for any government office yourself. I'm so thankful for that! To Melissa: I am embarassed to hear that a president "did not have sexual relations with that woman" or "can you define what sexual relationship is" (Clinton). I am embarassed to know that there's a person running for President who refuses to put his hand on his heart for the pledge, or put the US Flag on his airplane. I'm also embarassed by the fact that he has doubts about the Bible. If you were to read the Bible it says that you should not have doubts. And that your faith should be strong enough. I don't want a person running my country when he can't even come to peace with God. (Well maybe he has come to peace with his god, but it's not my god!) Am I totally excited about McCain, no, not really, but I do know that McCain has respect and love for his country. I will vote for McCain and Palin as I find them to be the best fit for who I want in office.

I am embarassed to hear my fellow citizens commenting on Palin as a "hottie" and a "babe." You are disgusting. I may not agree with her, and a definately will not vote for McCain, but it shows the sexim of the south in a way that makes me ashamed. And to you who who speak of the comments on the Bible where obama was "putting down the Bible," go read the WHOLE speech and stop taking a few phrases out of context. A man who can admit to his own doubts, a part of being human might I add, is someone who is not trying to deceive you with false piety. Doubts are a part of being a Christian, the doubts once overcome are what makes our devotion to God stronger...because it means something! God helps us overcome our doubts. Obama is a candidate for the every man. Christians who judge him and say I don't think he is a read believer should remember it is not your place to judge or throw stones. Shame on you.

I have voted a straight Democratic ticket in every election since 1980. I was very disappointed when Obama didn't pick Hillary Rodham Clinton for his running mate. That was a major let down. I have decided to support McCain/Palin in this election because apparently Republicans are the only ones that deem a woman fit to hold office.

Now a candidate offers a woman the chance of a lifetime and you are crying that he picked her to win over Hillary Clinton's supporters. Look her you little b*#&!*s! What in the world has happened to the Democratic Party??? Have you all lost your minds? I'm switching parties. You people no longer represent the Democratic party of the past. Do a search on you tube for - Obama's Plans To Dismantle The US Military, Why? - and listen to this crazy man. You want him to protect our country? And the former DNC chairman Don Fowler was caught on video laughing about Hurricane Gustave's good timing, as were other democratic politicians. They are tickled pink that there's a destructive hurricane getting ready to wreak havoc during the Republic Convention. What a sick bunch of people the dems have become. The good, moral folks of our country will be praying for the families along the gulf coast. Someone needs to strap Don Fowler to a palm tree on the coast.

I used to be blinded to Obama too and thought he would be the best candidate for change. After listening to Obama put down the bible (out of his own mouth) in a speech, and laughing at people who beleive in God's written word, I do not believe he truly is a Christian, which means his morals as president would be sadly lacking. He's using it as a political chess piece to get ahead. There's nothing questionable about Sarah Palin's Christianity! I'll be voting McCain/Palin!!!

The VP doesn't shack up with the Prez at 1600 PA Ave! VPs get their own house. Anyway, I don't care where they stay so long as McCain & Palin make it to DC. You don't have to be a stupid red-neck to be afraid of a Prez named Obama! HRC said she likes McCain and calls him her friend. She never said that about O! I really doubt if she votes for O; she has to be PO'd. My son is an Army Officer and believe me, I want his commander and chief to understand the risks when he sends my son into harms way. McCain KNOWS and will think long and hard before he puts his men at risk and Palin's son is in the military so she will be very careful also. What does O know about anything? He never served and only visited the military as a campaign stunt. And for all of you superficial men that couldn't stand HRC's voice or pantsuits, Palin is a beautiful, soft spoken woman in a dress!

As far as him being biracial and not claiming his other side, are you people selective in the history you teach as well?! In the US, race is a superficial categorization of people based on Physical characteristics. Black people did not establish the one drop rule, whites did to separate the dominant group from the "inferior" groups. Obama did not label himself black, society chose it for him. And the irony of it all is if most of you white people saw him without knowing his heritage you would assume he was a black man anyway so get over yourselves!

Bob, only liberals vote for someone because of their race or their sex. If I was running for office, nothing would insult me more than for you to offer me your vote simply because I am a black female. Vote for me because of my credentials or vote for my opponent if you do not agree with my stance on the issues. Personally, I like this lady's conservative record. I feel McCain should step aside and she should be placed at the top of the ticket. America needs a strong, right wing, ultra conservative in the white house. The last time a true conservative was elected to serve in the white house was in 1984. 20 years of liberals and moderates that claim to be conservative is what got us where we are today. It is time for change. America needs to look forward to the day this outstanding lady resides at 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue.

Palin is just what we need! She's smart, she's gutsy, she's moral, she gets the job done and doesn't back down. McCain/Palin '08!

You tell em Bob!

"Yes, we can." What in the heck does that even mean? That you can vote? So can I. McCain/Palin'08. Peace!

Posted by: Cynthia Location: Bryan on Aug 29, 2008 at 08:14 PM
I am so thrilled with McCain's pick. I think Palin will do just fine in her role. The most interesting thing I've noticed so far is that Obama talks about Change; yet he chose a VP who is so far from wanting change it's insane. McCain has talked some about change; yet he chose a VP who not only is a change from the norm in Wash. DC, but also demands change herself. Interesting, who's actually walking their talk...McCain!

MVille you are so right !!! Yes, we can. Obama'08

McCain is just playing politics, he picked Palin to woo disaffected women who wanted Hillary in the big seat. But I have to wonder, if the Democrats had two white guys on the ticket would he have chosen Palin?

The icing on the cake is she has a lifetime membership in the NRA! Finally, a pro Second Amendment candidate.

Posted by: Thomas on Aug 29, 2008 at 07:12 PM
Well McCain, I thought you had a good head on your shoulders and then you went and pulled the stunt of selecting a woman for VP. Not saying she couldn't do the job but I'm sure she has no knowledge or experience in foreign matters or how to run the country. Either way, the USA won't be in good shape whoever gets office because of how the current leader has driven the economy into the dirt. Oil companies are gouging the American people at will and the government won't step in to do anything about it.

This is a great day for all of us moms who believe Gov. Palin represents us. Most of America can identify with a small town wife and mother who so excels at her task she is rewarded with even more responsibility. She is real...more real than most politicians. She will most definitely help the ticket, and I wish her well.

ok, this is what it is.....obama is half white, half black, half christian, half muslem. so, what is the whole story? I have no idea? I do not think he knows either. once a muslem, always a muslem, he will have full access to all security and will be will to give it away while sitting at the round table........that's the whole story.....

Obama is an Arab-African. There is a difference. Arabs enslaved Africans well before Europeans and still do to this day! Arabs prized white slaves over black and still have slaves. If any of you Aggies go to ATM Qatar, you will find Indians or Indonesians basically acting as slaves to their Arab masters. I have been there and seen that. Same with Saudi and other Gulf Nations. http://www.trinicenter.com/modules.php?name=News&file=article&sid=1154 http://www.faithfreedom.org/Articles/SStephan/islamic_slavery.htm As-salaam alaykum

Like anyone know who obama was before he ran. What is your point?"

Posted by: doubting on Aug 29, 2008 at 04:27 PM
obama keeps saying the same thing,it`s time for a change. what, from white pres to a black pres. wake up people mlk is gone. he says he going to change this and that, but never says how. hes a liar.

Posted by: amazed on Aug 29, 2008 at 04:19 PM
Let's see, someones said Obamas not a Christian, another said he has Marxist friends, and another that he has disowned his white heritage. Way to make us look good deep south. ...embarrassed for you

I agree...why do we keep calling out African American (which he is) and not recognizing his other half? Yes we are only half-way making history. Oh sorry that was a joke I just had to throw in there. I have nothing against him because of his race but he is practically being a racist himself for neglecting his other heritage. Vote McCain! If he wasn't even raised by his father, then how can he put so much emphasis on that part of his heritage? He is already confused I agree. He is USING the color of his skin. That EVERYONE should be against. That is what black people and African Americans (yes there is a difference!) have fought so hard for? Why does it seem like we taking a step backwards?

Posted by: nona on Aug 29, 2008 at 03:50 PM
dont compare palin to chenney. this woman has spunk and is a learner. what does b.o. know about foriegn affairs. thats why he picked biden for pres and him v p . besides they all have advisers. and lucy is not a sheep, she is a member of the idiot party.

Posted by: Anonymous on Aug 29, 2008 at 03:36 PM
oh, lucy from mville, mccain just won the election with his choice. obama is already burying himself with negative comments from his camp. as far as dave's comment, obama has disowned his 'white side' and is proud of that fact. he will bury himself, just watch, its already happening.

Interesting, but I wish he had chosen someone with experience in national and international politics. McCain has plenty of experience in both areas, but the vice-president is just one heart attack away from being the president. I am impressed about her achievements in Alaska. The time is now to have a woman in our adminstration. I am just grateful that it's not going to be Hilary(and Bill).

Posted by: Anonymous on Aug 29, 2008 at 03:15 PM
Hey Lucy...I bet you dont even know why you want to vote for Obama. You're just a sheep.

Posted by: Bill Clinton on Aug 29, 2008 at 03:15 PM
Is it just me or is the next potential VP smokin hot!!!!

Posted by: Mom Location: Iola on Aug 29, 2008 at 03:08 PM
Yes, he's a 50 percenter....50% black and 50% white. And am I the only parent that noticed his ill behaved daughter wrangling the mic away from her mom? And then, her dad totally blew her off when she was talking to him on the video screen. My problem is if he doesn't know who he is, or how to deal with his own children, how on earth will he handle our country? I'm going to vote for McCain. The vice-president he chose works for me as well. As least she not as mouthy as Hillary.

Posted by: Bllue on Aug 29, 2008 at 02:54 PM
I have been reading @ Ms Palin, it's ok for her to be governor, but I wouldn't put my vote on her for a VP, of course she has ties to the "oil industry" like D. Cheney, so maybe she would be just as "good". McSame has just proved he could find a duplicte Vice President and she hunts too! The most telling statement I've read today is that G W Bush is excited, that should scare all of us. If he's for it, we need to be VERY afraid.

Posted by: Dane Location: Madisonville on Aug 29, 2008 at 02:53 PM
I think choosing someone unknown a first termer in Alaska of all places was a mistake. What was McCain thinking?????

Posted by: GreatChoice on Aug 29, 2008 at 02:42 PM
What an excellent choice. Now I can get excited about the Republican party ticket. A true Conservative and Palin has more executive experience than Obama and she’s only the VP candidate. Careful Demos on criticizing her for lack of experience.

Posted by: Ubetcha on Aug 29, 2008 at 02:17 PM
At least Palin has governed! She's an excellent choice for VP. Funny how Obama talks about his white mother and grandmother and nothing about his Kenya father, Muslim school as a child, radical Marxist friends, etc. etc. He's living in a fairyland and it will soon end.

Posted by: Amy Location: CS on Aug 29, 2008 at 02:07 PM
Yawn - who cares. The VP doesn't do much anyway.

Posted by: Voter Location: College Station on Aug 29, 2008 at 01:54 PM
Sounds like she can handle herself pretty well. Good to see a fresh face in politics, for a change. I'll give her a chance based on what she has already said.

Posted by: Mary Location: CS on Aug 29, 2008 at 01:30 PM
I don't have a problem with Obama being African American. I do have a problem with him not being a Christian. And if people normally vote Republican, they shouldn't be called racist for sticking with their party.

Posted by: Linda on Aug 29, 2008 at 01:28 PM
Way to go McCain. Great choice. I saw her speech on TV and she will make a great running mate. With her being head of the National Guard in Alaska and her son on the way to Iraq she has military experience as well as McCain which is more than O can say!!! We've had presidents with no military experience and we've seen where that got us.

Posted by: Sheila Location: College Station on Aug 29, 2008 at 01:17 PM
I think Pallin was a great choice and very SMART of McCain. She can talk circles around Obama and actually have REAL CHANGE not just talk about it.

Posted by: Bricker on Aug 29, 2008 at 01:03 PM
I've said before that McCain needed Palin to win, but I honestly didn't think he was smart enough to agree. Absolutely brilliant move. And at this point nobody remembers that Obama gave a speech last night, including the media, so the timing was doubly brilliant.

Posted by: Amy on Aug 29, 2008 at 12:45 PM
Well the way I look at it either way we are screwed!

Posted by: Anonymous on Aug 29, 2008 at 12:40 PM
There is still so much about Obama that we do not know. I think the biggest fear is uncertainty. It is not just his mixed heritage, it is his religion, his background, where he stands on AMERICA. Just because you run for President does not mean you are proud to be American just that you could be using America as a ploy.

Posted by: Daniel Location: Madisonville on Aug 29, 2008 at 12:40 PM
I agree Dave! But whoever wins it will be history, first black heritage president or first woman VP!! History either way the vote goes, something to tell your kids and grandkids about!!!!

Posted by: dave Location: CS on Aug 29, 2008 at 11:55 AM
on the contrary, its obvious mccain is thinking ahead. you're just witnessing the McCain campaign trying to move the GOP into the modern era of diversity. I doubt anybody is going to vote for Obama because they have something against a woman, those poor souls that MIGHT do so would rather stick with a woman than vote for someone with black heritage. Which by the way is interesting, Obama is so highly touted as the first possible "black" president....did everybody conveniently forget that his mother is a white woman from Kansas, and that he was raised as any suburban white kid is today? You don't hear much about Obama's "white side". I know that comment is going to peeve some people off, but I KNOW there are people out there wondering the exact same thing. Again, an attempt to appeal to diversity. Let's see how it pans out

Posted by: jan on Aug 29, 2008 at 11:50 AM
she was picked as a v p not pres. women unite. she can handle it.

Posted by: LW Location: Bryan on Aug 29, 2008 at 10:48 AM
Cute, even better look'n than O'Bama. Just as inexperienced tho...

Interesting choice.

Posted by: neo soren Location: Bryan on Aug 29, 2008 at 10:30 AM
I wasn't expecting McCain to choose a women for a running mate. This is an interesting development. I think some HRC supports will shift their attentions to the GOP. It remains to be seen if this will translate to votes for McCain.

Posted by: Lucy Location: MVille on Aug 29, 2008 at 10:24 AM
Way to go McCain. You just cost yourself the election. Obama '08.
