Brazos County Judge Randy Sims signed an emergency declaration Friday, in light of Gustav heading toward the Louisiana coast.

Sims tells News 3 that evacuees are expected to head to Brazos County before and after the storm makes landfall.

The Emergency Operations Center is on standby as well as all local non-profit agencies.

Thursday Governor Rick Perry suspended plans to attend the Republican National Convention and issued a disaster declaration for 61 counties, including Brazos County, in case Gustav hits Texas.

Some coastal residents are already gassing up and stocking up on water and supplies.

Im sorry but this is true what you guys say. These people really ruined there rep last time we helped them and I am sorry for the good people who have nothing to do with this. Sometimes I wonder if god sent the hurricane that way because the way there are? I dunno but god be with all of us.

It is interesting watching society's parasites load up on buses to leave the New Orleans area. I would get in my vehicle with wife, child, and Chihuahuas depending on no one but me. Why are they different? They have learned nothing in the past three years. If only Obama were president! He could divinely redirect the hurricane.

Time to get a permit to carry to protect the family and the belongings from the NOLA thugs. Our family is starting to think strongly about moving away from B/CS due to the raising crime rate here. Someone better listen up and send them elsewhere before citizens start moving away in droves.

Not every person who got a government check spent it on "alcohol, smokes, and topless bars" I am from Louisiana and not every person who EVACUATES from a NATURAL DISASTER is such a HORRIBLE person. and no there is nowhere in louisiana for us to go because if a hurricane hits in the CENTER of the state its gonna hit the WHOLE state.have you looked at a map lately? texas is FAR bigger then louisiana. So yes i agree alot of the those people were trash, but dont judge the evacuees by all of the "rapists" and people who "trashed their cities".Way to show compassion for fellow americans. You know i wonder what would ever happen if all of you people had to evacuate to another state and have them say the things yall are saying about them. i have been an evacuee before. believe me they are EXTREMELY scared right now,and some cant even leave due to NO gas and my family just so happens to be in that category. i wonder what would happen if that HORRIBLE cat 4 storm hit us.Yall would be just as SCARED!

The weather channel just upgraded Gustav to a category 4 with sustained winds of 145mph. It is not even in the gulf yet. Fasten down the hatches, because this is going to be a big one.

Just a thought, Why is it when we (Texans) have to evacuate from the coast we go NORTH further into TEXAS, Yet those in Louisiana go WEST along the coast then NORTH? Isn't there anywhere for them to go IN LOUISIANA that is away from the coast? I know there were some good people from Louisiana that came here last time BUT they were few and far between. We mostly got Thugs and rapists or has everyone forgotten the one that was helping Frank King Powell, He was from Louisiana and went back before he was caught. I hope it doesn't hit them because we dont need the BS.

f'ing wonderful. let's put a sign up on hwy6 coming into CS that says "Please commit as much crime as you possibly can to ruin our town as much as you've ruined yours." to welcome all of the New Orleans trash that we get.

Posted by: Remember Katrina/Rita Location: Bryan on Aug 29, 2008 at 12:54 PM
Oh Good Lord here we go again with all the trash and stuff that settled here last time. I bet they start lining up EXPECTING their GUBMENT checks before the storm even hits. I bet the Health department is STILL getting calls from people saying "Im an evacuee from Katrina/Rita and I need my free shots for my kids." HERE WE GO AGAIN!!!!!
