It's day two of a Brazos County embezzlement trial. Longtime district attorney employee, Queen Walker, is accused of stealing thousands of dollars from the office. Tuesday, the state continued calling witnesses.
Brazos County Auditor Katie Conner said during a financial review they couldn't find corresponding bank deposits for checks that were written to the district attorney's office.
Texas Ranger Frank Malinak says during the investigation evidence led them to Walker.
He said several times money was collected from hot check writers and not deposited in the District Attorney's restitution fund.
Instead, it appeared Walker pocketed the money, but still paid the businesses affected with money from the restitution fund.
He said the restitution fund was never overdrawn because of all the felony restitution money coming in.
