The pounds have been counted and priced, and it's the biggest drug bust in Leon County history. An estimated $17 million worth of cocaine is now off the streets and a suspected illegal immigrant is behind bars.
Prisiiano Villanueva is being held on bonds totaling more than a half million dollars. He's looking at a multitude of charges including possession of a controlled substance and evading arrest.
Villanueva was captured Tuesday after leading authorities on a chase from I-45 to Flynn. Leon County Sheriff Mike Price says it was TDCJ tracking dogs that ended up sniffing out the suspect's hiding spot.
But the big surprise came after the capture. While searching Villanueva's vehicle, deputies hit the jackpot: 374 pounds of cocaine packed and ready to hit the streets.
Sheriff Price says the investigation into this arrest and seizure is just getting started.
