HOUSTON -- Next week's scheduled execution of a homeless man convicted of taking part in a fatal stabbing has been put off until next month.

Forty-two-year-old Gregory Wright faced lethal injection Tuesday for the 1997 stabbing death of a 52-year-old widow near Dallas.

Wright's new execution date is Oct. 30. His attorneys sought the delay to allow additional DNA testing.

The victim, Donna Duncan Vick, regularly ministered to the homeless and had given Wright food, shelter and money.

Last year, the U.S. Supreme Court refused to review Wright's conviction and sentence.

What is the point of Death Row anyways, just riding it out even longer, I say if they are put on Death Row they should be executed when that is sentenced, they don't get the right to live, since they harmed or murdered someone, not fair to the ones that lost their lives. The system is so messed up..
