Allen Academy is adding on. Wednesday, the school broke ground for a new 70,000 square foot, $11 million- campus. The new facility will consist of four separate wings to serve kindergarten through 12th grade students, a building for science and technology, a preschool building, an expanded fine arts center, and an administrative center.
Allen Academy says the purpose of the project is to provide Allen families and the community that parallels the college preparatory school's academic programs.
"Allen is driven by a set of core values and you can feel in the every day programming that combination of our vision and our values but this is actually going to articulate that in the physical environment so it's very exciting for us for the level of our facility to parallel the level of our programming," Head of School Bob Meyer said.
Construction will begin at the end of May, once classes are dismissed for summer. The academy hopes to have the new campus completed by the 2007 school year.
