Bicyclists Remember Fallen Riders

By  |

Local cyclists are remembering fellow riders who have died on the road.

A few dozen riders set out on a three mile ride Wednesday evening, which began at the College Station Conference Center. Riders remained quiet throughout the ride in order to pause and reflect on those killed by motorists, and remember to always take appropriate safety steps on the streets, including wearing a helmet and pads.

The annual Ride of Silence is held in 200 US cities and 10 countries.

Among the people remembered by local riders was Humberto Barrera, who was killed along Highway 30 in Grimes County just over one year ago.
