Bryan Swears In New Councilmembers

The city of Bryan has two new councilmembers.

Annette Stephney and Mike Southerland were sworn in at Tuesday evening's council meeting.

Stephney has been on the council before, and returns to fill the unexpired term of Paul Madison, who is running for Brazos County commissioner against Carey Cauley. Stephney defeated Mike Flores in the race for Single Member District 2.

Southerland won the at-large seat on the council in his second run for office in Bryan. He lost to Mark Conlee last year, but defeated incumbent Russell Bradley for Place 6 this time around.

Single Member District 5 Councilman Ben Hardeman also took the oath of office, having retained his place on the council. He defeated Kim Casey earlier this month. This will be the fourth term overall that Hardeman has served on the Bryan council.
