For the second day in a row, outage-weary residents in Madison County got to enjoy delicious, hot meals Thursday from some pretty special strangers.
Members of an Oklahoma-based disaster relief team from the Southern Baptist Convention have set up shop at First Baptist Madisonville where they're cooking up food for those in need. They're providing lunch and dinner for residents in Madisonville, Midway and North Zulch.
"We come prepared to serve," said Gene Presley, SBC Disaster Relief Team. "We feel like that's what our Lord and Saviour did. He gives us a command to do that and we just feel called to do that"
Even with power restored to much of Madison County, the group plans to keep cooking as long as its needed. "It's a blessing," Presley said. "I mean we just get such a good feeling from helping people. It's fantastic."
