(05/26/06 - 07:41AM) An 18-month-old girl was fatally wounded as she slept overnight in what police say was an apparent drive-by shooting in a Dallas suburb.
A Farmers Branch police spokesman says the child was asleep in a back bedroom of her family's corner house shortly before midnight when the gunfire erupted.
The bedroom window faces a side street, from which the spokesman says at least six shots were fired.
The girl was taken to Children's Medical Center of Dallas, where she died a short time later. Her identity hasn't been released yet.
Police spokesman Tom Bryson says none of the other family members in the house was wounded. He says there is no motive known, nor any suspects in custody.
