A FLASH FLOOD WATCH is in effect for Austin, Brazos, Burleson, Grimes, Houston, Lee, Madision, Montgomery, San Jacinto, Trinity, Walker, Waller, & Washington Counties until 8am Saturday morning.
A mysterious green car may be to blame for a two vehicle accident that killed two Monday. And the DPS is asking for the public's help in finding the driver of that car.
Authorities say the wreck took place shortly before 4:30 p.m. on Interstate 45 between Madisonville and Centerville. They say a white Chevy Tahoe with three on board was headed north when it was cut off by, what's believed to be, a green Mercury Montero. In trying to avoid a collision, the driver of the Tahoe turned sharply, sending the SUV across the median and into the south-bound lanes of I-45. That's when it was hit by a Toyota carrying two passengers.
The female driver of the Tahoe and the female passenger of the Toyota were both pronounced dead at the scene. Two children, ages six and four, aboard the Tahoe were air lifted to Herman Memorial Houston.
The green Montero never stopped and continued heading north. If you witnessed this accident or have any information on the car in question, please call the Leon County DPS office or Leon County Sheriff's office.
