A mystery SUV may hold the key to the cause of double fatality accident in Leon County. The Department of Public Safety is looking for a green Mitsubishi Montero which continued north on Interstate 45 after possibly triggering Monday's wreck.
Investigators believe a sudden lane change by the Montero was what caused a Chevy Tahoe to lose control just south of Centerville and go careening into oncoming traffic where it hit a Toyota. Spring resident Amanda Smith, 35, who was driving the Tahoe, and Richmond resident, Delmy Nunez, 52, a passenger in the Toyota, were both pronounced dead at the scene.
Smith's two children, Hannah, 6, and Luke, 4, were air lifted to Memorial Herman Hospital in Houston. Their conditions are not being released.
Investigators are asking for assistance from anyone who may have winessed the accident or have information about the Montero. If you can help, call the Leon County Sheriff's Office.
