Houston-area police say one of the sons of Houston Astros coach Jose Cruz is considered missing after not being heard from for 12 days.
Katy police Captain Gay Dickerson says 34-year-old Jose Javier Cruz hasn't contacted family members since May 19th at his Houston home.
The next day, firefighters extinguished a burning truck police say was owned by Cruz's former wife and was last seen driven by Cruz.
Dickerson says police list Cruz as "a missing person in danger" because he isn't answering his cell phone. He says no clues were found near the burned truck, and no human remains were found in the truck. But Dickerson won't say if police found any blood or evidence of violence.
The elder Jose Cruz is the Astros first base coach. He played 18 seasons in the big leagues, including 1975 to 1987 with the Astros. He and his wife live in Houston and have four children. Their son -- 32-year-old Jose Luis Cruz Junior -- plays for the Los Angeles Dodgers.
