A 16-year-old has been sentenced to 20 years in the Texas Youth Commission in connection with a Bryan man's murder.
The boy confessed to stabbing Estainslado Reyes, 62, outside a convenient store in June 2005.
Police say Reyes was trying to call police from a payphone to get help for his wife, who had been beaten inside their home.
Reyes died three weeks later from his injuries.
The Bryan teenager may be transferred to an adult prison facility after a minimum of two years in TYC.
His co-defendent, Michael Lopez goes on trial for murder in July.
