Two people are dead and two others injured after a crash Sunday afternoon in Robertson County.

The crash happened around 4:45p.m. Sunday on Highway 79, about five miles north of Highway 6.

Department of Public Safety officials tell News 3, a 2000 Honda swerved to miss a PT Cruiser that was waiting to turn left off of Highway 79. The Honda went in the median and into oncoming traffic, hitting a 2009 Ford truck. The truck then struck the PT Cruiser waiting to turn.

The driver of the PT Cruiser, Amber Henderson of Hearne, and the driver of the truck, Steven Duke of Henderson, both suffered non-life-threatening injuries and were taken to St. Joseph's Regional Health Center in Bryan. Their conditions are not known at this time.

The two people inside the Honda died on the scene. Their names have not been released, pending notification of next of kin.

TxDOT Public Information Officer Bob Colwell said the roadway was re-opened around 8:30pm.
