Houston Tourist Stabbed on New York Subway

Police say two people were stabbed in separate incidents on the New York subway system in a roughly 12-hour period.

A 21-year-old tourist from Texas was hospitalized in critical condition after a stabbing yesterday afternoon in a subway car on Manhattan's Upper West Side. Police say the attack was random and apparently unprovoked.

Christopher McCarthy of Houston was riding with a female friend on a downtown train when he was stabbed by a man in his 20s wearing all black, according to police. No words were exchanged between the two.

Police were still looking for the assailant this morning.

Also this morning, police say a man waiting with a friend on a platform at the Rockefeller Center subway station in midtown Manhattan was stabbed twice in the stomach, apparently during a robbery.
