For the sixth straight day, gas prices have dropped across the Brazos Valley. However, they're still not where they need to be.
News 3 went back on "Pump Patrol" Tuesday and found out what a difference a week makes.
After just six days of patrolling the Brazos Valley pumps, prices are down about 40 cents. Last week News 3 found gas for $3.75 a gallon and Tuesday at Wal-Mart it was $3.32 a gallon.
It is still not as cheap as our neighbors in Austin, Waco, and Houston where they're paying just $3.00 a gallon.
"You got to expect it in College Station, everyone is out for the money here," a local resident said. "But you can't do too much complaining unless you want to drive to the nearest city."
It's not just other towns in Texas that have lower gas prices. John, a College Station resident, just got back from New Jersey where prices are even lower and you don't even have to pump your own gas.
"I'm just wondering why in that state where they have to have a service guy pump your car, how they can have lower gas prices," John said. "Maybe we just need to regulate it more."
But for some, gas at $3.35 is a bargain.
"It makes it a little easier," one consumer said. "I drive back and forth to Hearne everyday, so the more savings the better you know."
"This is nice right here," another consumer said. "I usually pay about $60 and this is $10 less right here. So yea, I'm noticing a difference."
As for the most expensive gas, News 3 found it at Checkers on the Corner of Holleman and Welsh where it's $3.59 a gallon.

I just left Slovacek's here in Snook and gas is $2.69 there.
Look people, the wholesale price of gas changes every single day. It's not like cokes and candy bars. This means that every gas station is ALWAYS paying a different price for their gas. In the last 10 days, the wholesale price of gas has fallen about 80 cents. That means that one station may have paid $3.40 for their fuel, while another is paying $2.60. It's not a conspiracy, and the KBTX Pump Patrol has nothing to do with the recent price drop. Most gas retailers outside of B/CS LOSE money on gasoline sales. Maybe B/CS retailers are trying to make 10 cents per gallon. Is that wrong? The government, however, makes about 60 cents per gallon in taxes. Please review Exxon's largest quarterly profits in U.S. history, and then tell me who's making the money. Quit picking on the gas station owners who are just trying to stay in business, and worry about what's left of your 401-K value.
Finally, Madisonville has something worth while to have. gas at 2.95 a gallon at Mo&Jo's travel stop and across the street at Chevron.
