Six new additions to Messina Hof will make it the second largest winery in the state.
State-of-the-art tanks that will store 50,000 gallons of wine were installed Thursday morning. That brings Messina Hof's storage capacity to 300,000 galllons.
Unlike the other tanks they've got, these six will be the first ones outside the building. They are also the biggest tanks installed at Messina Hof since they began back in 1977.
"We never envisioned the winery growing to the point that it has grown," said Merrill Bonarrigo, co-founder of Messina Hof, "and I think it lays the foundation and groundwork to show us that we can go much farther than we have even come to date."
The winery hopes to have the tanks ready to go by the time harvest rolls around on the fourth weekend in July.
