It's not a common procedure, but now pedicures using fish are now illiegal in Texas.

During the pedicure, a customer places his or her feet in a footbath allowing fish to eat dead skin cells their feet.
The Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation lists this as a health risk because the same fish are being used on multiple customers and can transmit infectious diseases.

It's essentially baby barricudas eating your dead skin. Is it really any more gross than a person ramming their fingers all around your toe jam? I think I'll take the fish over other people any day.

I do not know who would want to put their feet in water with fish that eat their skin cells. That is gross!

I agree with this law. Someone should report this to the S.P.C.F. (Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Fish.)
