Tyler police are investigating a prank call that drew dozens of gun-wielding officers to a bank, causing a startled diabetic woman to seek medical attention.
The officers responded to a 911 call yesterday afternoon, reporting someone was shot during a bank robbery. About 30 officers responded.
A police spokesman says one customer was stopped by police and ordered out of her truck as she pulled away from the bank. The innocent bystander was startled so badly that she suffered complications from her diabetes.
Police may release an audio recording of the 911 call to help identify the prank caller.
The episode ended in about ten minutes when the bank manager confirmed nothing was wrong.
