The area's newest museum will have some extra funding from Washington.
The Brazos Valley African American Museum has $75,000 written in to an appropriations bill that just passed the House committee. With House and Senate approval, that money would go towards maintenance and utilities of the building, which will display the art and history of local African Americans.
The grand opening of the museum, located at 20th and Preston in Bryan, is scheduled for July 22.
