There's plenty of Juneteenth celebrations happening Saturday. Juneteenth commemorates June 19Th 1865, the day African American slaves in Texas learned about their emancipation.
Rain or shine, a parade starts Saturday morning at 10 at Kemp Elementary on MLK and ends at Sadie Thomas Park.
Following the parade, there will be a family fun day with vendors and activities at the park.
You can continue the celebration Saturday evening with song and dance. Praises in the Park, a Juneteenth Gospel Celebration, will take place at the Wolf Pen Creek Amphitheater in College Station from 5 until 11 pm.
Brazos Valley area choirs, praise dance teams, soloists, and musicians will be performing. The event is free.
