The man who killed Aggie Freshman Tynesha Stewart will spend 99 years behind bars.

The announcement for Timothy Shepherd came down around 4:30 this afternoon.
Jury members returned to the courtroom this afternoon demanding two things.
They asked for a read back of some of Shepherd's testimony, specifically his recount of how everything transpired.
They also want a playback of a phone call Shepherd placed from behind bars last December to a family member.

It was in that phone call that Shepherd stated "This case has garnered a lot of publicity so maybe I should write a book and make some money."

There are some truly sick people in this world. I'm so glad that we have one less on the streets to harm our children!

KBTX:LETS TAKE THIS ARTICLE DOWN. THIS NUT DOES NOT DESERVE ANY MORE COVERAGE,OR THOUGHT. HE NEEDS TO BE SENT AWAY AS QUICK AS THEY CAN GET RID OF HIM. MAY THIS FAMILY FIND SOME CLOSURE, AND GO ON WITH THEIR LIVES. THIS MAN IS THE LOWEST OF THE LOW. IF HE HAD A CONSCIENCE, I WOULD HOPE THAT IT WOULD TORMENT HIM FOREVER. BUT OBVIOUSLY HE HAS NONE.

i think he should get the death penity.because he took someone else life for no reason so his should be TOOK!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Posted by: Loser Police on Oct 16, 2008 at 05:54 AM
Now leave him in there for 99 years! Don't let him walk out after serving just 5 years!!!

i understand the system, and it's reasons for not seeking the death penalty, but it seems that the life of the victim should mean more to the system. this man deserves to die. pure and simple. THE BIBLE SAYS IN GENESIS CH.9,VERSE 6:WHOSO SHEDDETH MAN'S BLOOD,BY MAN SHALL HIS BLOOD BE SHED.i think that is self explanatory. if we would kill some of these cruel killers, then we would see a huge drop in the number of murders. they might think twice.especially if we killed them in the same manner in which they killed their victims!! i feel sure he will catch hell in prison.

"Those of you worried about the costs- It cost much more money to execute someone than it does to keep them in jail for 99 years. " Only if you you use liberal math and factor in all all the bucks the anti death penalty folks contribute to appeal to the supreme court over issues that have been decided years ago and ignore the costs incurred when lifers either break out or get their convictions reversed on technicalities and then commit more murders...

He will "get his"! Remember Jeffery Dalhmer? Remember what he did and what happened to him in prison?"

Posted by: Jv Location: Bryan on Oct 15, 2008 at 05:38 PM
If there ever was a case for the death penalty - this is the one! What he did was heinous

BRAVO

Okay, they did not seek the death penalty b/c in the state of Texas a person is only eligible for the death penalty in (2) circumstances: 1. If they kill a child that is 5yrs of age or younger & 2. If someone is killed in the act of committing another crime for example: If someone robs a store and then kills the clerk, or braking into someone's home and then kills them, basically what " Tom" said. But yes this is a very sad crime he committed. He's obviously a sick individual. But God will deal with him in his own way. Continue to pray for the family they need it.

Make money on a book? He can't spend too much of it in prison.

Posted by: Anonymous Location: BCS on Oct 15, 2008 at 02:22 PM
Let him sit in jail and suffer for the rest of his life. Those of you worried about the costs- It cost much more money to execute someone than it does to keep them in jail for 99 years. Court fees and the cost of arranging the execution end up costing more taxpayer dollars.

i don't think 99 years is good enough he should have got the chair that's my opinion.

Posted by: Anonymous Location: brenham on Oct 15, 2008 at 01:32 PM
HE GOT WHAT HE DESERVED.A LONG TIME TO THINK ABOUT HIS CRIME BEHIND THOSE BARS.

Posted by: Anonymous on Oct 15, 2008 at 12:15 PM
Are they actually serious??????? He should get the death penalty. I think this is just about the dumbest thing i have ever heard of in my life. Didn't he bbq this girl? I think the whole thing is stupid my ownself.

Posted by: Brian Location: Bryan on Oct 15, 2008 at 11:56 AM
How long could that book actually be? Three maybe four chapters? It's not like he is some criminal mastermind. How many best sellers, other than childrens' books are that short? Who would honestly want to know what this tool was thinking when he did this? If he does write a book, I hope the family sues him and gets every penny whatever lowlife publisher give him. He killed her because she decided she could better her live by getting a good education here and could find a better man here and he got mad. Plain and simple. If he couldn't have her, nobody should. His parents must be sooo proud. He is nothing more than a child that threw a fit cause he couldn't have things his way. If some girl I am dating doesn't want me, then fine, good riddance and have a great life. He should be BBQ alive as punishment!

An eye for an eye. If the death penalty, and I don't mean sit in a cell for 30 years and then be put to death, I mean the death penalty and within 30 days you are gone, if that was something enforced for people that kill others our murder statistics would drop dramatically. People kill because they know they will still live their lives and don't care where they sit to live them out. Someone that will cut off limbs of another human being after already killing them and then put them on the grill. That is sick and when you are sick like that you should get the maximum punishment.

Posted by: WHY NOT DEATH? Location: BRYAN,TX on Oct 15, 2008 at 10:45 AM
This piece of trash deserved to die. since the judicial system did not feel this was a capital case, the death penalty was not even considered. maybe he'll get the death penalty in prison. i don't think his cell mates will let him live.

Posted by: Anonymous on Oct 15, 2008 at 09:10 AM
As much as I believe he should have received the death penalty, they say the reason is because there were no "special circumstances" or another crime committed when he did this one. I think just the heinous nature of the crime should warrant the death penalty.

Posted by: TO TOM Location: BCS on Oct 15, 2008 at 08:24 AM
They did not seek the death penalty bc what he did to her was after the fact that he strangled her the death penalty is only sought after if someone does something robbery, assault, kidnapping etc. and then kills the victim it sounds insane but that is exactly how he got out of getting the death penalty I read this on khou.com or it may have been click2houston.com check it out .

My guess is because they could never find a body. I bet thats the reason he was only sentenced to 99 years? But he confessed...is that not proof enough???

Posted by: Snoopy Location: Doghouse on Oct 15, 2008 at 06:58 AM
I agree he deserved to die for his crime. However, the system does work if people participate. One other suggestion, if he does write a book, DON'T BUY A COPY! That way if a publisher is unscrupulous enough to try to make money on it, they'll lose money.

Posted by: Tom Location: College Station on Oct 15, 2008 at 04:41 AM
Why didn't the Harris County DA seek the death penalty for this guy? Even if the jury didn't want to execute him, they could've at least gotten life without parole or even the 99 year sentence he received. This guy is the poster child for someone who needs to be executed.

Posted by: Confused & Dazed Location: BCS on Oct 14, 2008 at 07:22 PM
Unbelievable?? Why not the death penatly? What is wrong with our judicial system? He did the unthinkable....I agree with Angry...why should we feed, educate, and house this monster?

Posted by: bcs on Oct 14, 2008 at 07:04 PM
I seriously doubt that hood rat knew how to read or write, guess he will have plenty of time to learn, but he'll be too busy being some other thugs new girlfriend

Posted by: Catherine Location: College Station on Oct 14, 2008 at 05:43 PM
So let the moron write a book, hopefully now the family of this girl has sought councel regarding monetary damages. Maybe it will be a best seller, even better, because the family sure deserves more justice than what was served.

Posted by: Anonymous on Oct 14, 2008 at 05:41 PM
Isn't there some kind of law that says any money he makes goes to the victim's family? or is that only in California?

Posted by: TP4C (Taxes Paying for Criminals) on Oct 14, 2008 at 05:38 PM
Can he share a cell with Charles Manson? Can we wait to check on him for 99 years?

Posted by: ALA on Oct 14, 2008 at 05:18 PM
Unbelievable! He maimed this girl and all he has to say is that he "should write a book so he can make some money"??? Yea, cause I'm sure everyone wants to hear why he decided he would murder her! What a WACKO! Perhaps this is the perfect sentence for him? He's gonna get all that’s coming to him in the pen...

Posted by: Angry Location: BCS on Oct 14, 2008 at 04:53 PM
Great! Another person that my taxes will pay for him to get an education! He should have the same thing done to him that he done to this young lady!
