Signed, sealed and delivered: Bryan has a new industry open for business.

Toyo Ink opened its 55,000 square foot plant in the Bryan Business Park off FM 2818. The $20 million facility will manufacture polymers and related products like coatings, fluid inks and adhesives, according to the company.

"We're trying real hard to be development-friendly, business-friendly, but in a very careful way," said Bryan Mayor Mark Conlee. "We don't want any junk, but good companies, good stores, good developments, we work hard with them to work through our processes."

The Research Valley Partnership was at the forefront of the effort to bring Toyo, a Japanese-based company, to Texas. Conlee credited the Bryan Business Council and city staff members for their parts.

A Shinto-style ceremony was attended by company and city leaders Wednesday at the facility's grand opening.

Toyo Ink will initially employ 15 workers, but that total will increase in the coming months.

As part of the deal to bring Toyo to Bryan, the city offered abatements on property taxes for eight years.
