Aggies are coming together to help victims of Hurricane Ike. They are selling "Beat the Hell out of Ike" t-shirts for $5, with the proceeds going to the hurricane relief effort.

The money will be distributed between two organizations, The Association of Former Students, which has set up a fund for Galveston evacuees, and the Bayside Lions Club, which will direct the funds to victims in San Leon and Bacliff in Galveston County.

The shirts are white with navy blue print, which is the official color of hurricane relief.

There are booths set up in the Rudder Center breeze way, the Blocker Building and the Wehner Building on west campus. The Wehner Building sales will only run from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. each day.

There will also be booths set up between Rudder and the Memorial Student Center on game day.

Hey anonymous, they aren't selling t-shirts so that the t-shirts can be donated to ike victims. They are selling t-shirts for money and then a portion of that money will then be donated to relief efforts for ike victims. Is that a little clearer for you??

I do not think that Hurricane Ike victims are supposed to buy the shirts so they will have something to wear. People in this community will buy the shirts to help raise money for those in need. By wearing the shirts, we show that we care. Every little bit helps. If you happen to have thousands of dollars to donate, do so. But if all you can do is buy a five dollar shirt, that is still better than nothing.

I think the t-shirt sales is a very good idea, but what would be a better idea, is to have the A&M cheerleaders selling the shirts they are wearing...Now I would pay BIG bucks for that!
