A ground-breaking ceremony for Franklin's new high school was held Tuesday. Construction will begin soon.
The project was part of a $25 million bond package which passed last year. The school will be located on FM 1644 and should be finished by August 2007.
Overcrowded classrooms were cited as a major reason that a new high school was needed in Franklin. Back in May 2005, administrators said the problems was so bad that some classes were being held in the cafeteria.
A new high school isn't the only project the bond money will be used for, as other school facilities will be upgraded.
