Pittsburgh police say a McCain volunteer made up story of being robbed, having 'B' scraped on her face.

Maurita Bryant, the assistant chief of the police department's investigations division, says Ashley Todd, 20, is being charged with making a false report to police.

Todd, A McCain campaign volunteer from College Station who reported being robbed and having a "B" cut into her cheek has done a lie detector test in Pennsylvania.

Police in Pittsburgh say Todd initially reported a tall black man attacked her after seeing a McCain bumper sticker on her car.

Police have said there are inconsistencies in Todd's story about Wednesday night -- mainly with how she described being attacked.

Police say photos and bank card information from an ATM where the college student claimed she was robbed don't show her using the machine then.

Police say Todd, who's white, told them she was attacked by a 6'4'' black man.

GOP presidential candidate John McCain and running mate Sarah Palin, called Todd yesterday expressing concern. Barack Obama's campaign issued a statement wishing her well.

The Associated Press could not immediately locate Todd.

Note: There were initial reports that Todd was a student at Texas A&M. Todd had listed this in her blog. However, Texas A&M officials confirm she is not enrolled at the university.

The Truth Location:at 06:18 PM I was not saying that I thought Ashley was innocent. I was simply saying that there could be other sides to the story. The government and or police have been known to be corrupt from time to time. I wasn't trying to defend her, I was only trying to be fair. For what it's worth, my Dad is a sherrif for Harris county, so I grew up around other cops and have gotten to know quite a lot about "the way police work." ( I hope that didn't appear rude or snide, as I am not trying to offend you.) But I'll say it again, I hope it all turns out the way it is supposed to turn out. Which ever truth comes out. :)

To "Daniel Garcia is Lying," get real. You obviously don't know Dan. As an Aggie, he did what any other Aggie would have done for someone he believed was a fellow Aggie. It's what the Aggie Network does. Dan is a trusting, caring person and had no reason to believe this person was lying at the time. He is hurt that this person took advantage of him and compromised his reputation. As a Democrat, I do not agree with his political views, but Dan is a stand-up guy.
