Grills and gauging will soon be outlawed in the Arlington school district.
The district has expanded its dress codes to include bans on mouth jewelry known as "grills" and the earlobe-stretching practice known as "gauging."
A district spokesperson said the fads have become distracting and safety hazards. It also brings Arlington in line with neighboring districts like Irving, Grand Prairie and DeSoto where grills are banned and gauging is restricted. Students argure its simply a means of self expression.
