Tools Allegedly Stolen by Deputy Identified

Tools believed to have been stolen by a Leon County deputy have been identified by their owner.

Casey Moreland was arrested Tuesday night and charged with burglary. He alleged stole $3,500 worth of tools from a North Zulch property in April. Tools found at Moreland's home had yet to be identified when the arrest was made.

Only a few hundred dollars worth of tools were recovered at Moreland's home. Leon and Madison County authorities are now working to find where the remaining tools have gone.

The 37-year-old was fired from the sheriff's office, where he had worked eight years. Faced with a state jail felony, Moreland has told authorities he is innocent.
