College Station City Council is hosting two public hearings this week focusing on two controversial rezoning proposals.
The first hearing is Wednesday night. It focuses on a proposal to rezone an area near Sebesta Road.
The Planning and Zoning commission has recommended approval of the proposal that calls for commercial and office development, as well as some light industrial.
The other rezoning proposal is a request by developer Weingarten Realty.
The company is asking for an area southeast of the Texas 6, Rock Prairie intersection be rezoned for so-called "big box" retail stores. Reportedly in that proposal is a likely Wal-Mart store.
The planning and zoning commission has recommended denying that request.
The Sebesta Road hearing is Wednesday night, while the Rock Prairie hearing is on Thursday.
Both hearings start at 7 p.m. and will be at the A&M Consolidated High School auditorium.
