CS Officers Promoted

Three College Station police officers have received promotions. They are:

Sgt. Jeff Capps has been promoted to Lieutenant. Lt. Capps started his career with the College Station Police Department in January, 1993 as a patrol officer. During his time on patrol, Lt. Capps served as a Field Training Officer. In 1995, Lt. Capps was transferred to the Criminal Investigation Division where he worked as a detective until 2001, when he was promoted to Sergeant. Lt. Capps is a graduate of Sam Houston State University, the Police Staff and Command School at Northwestern University, and holds a "Master Officer" certificate from the Texas Commission on Law Enforcement Standards and Education. Lt. Capps has received numerous awards and commendations during his career, twice being named "Supervisor of the Year", and once receiving "Officer of the Year" honors. Lt. Capps will serve as the Administrative Lieutenant in charge of Internal Affairs investigations.

Master Officer Kyle Patterson has been promoted to Sergeant. Sgt. Patterson started his career with the department in June, 1992 as a Communications Operator. In 1993, Sgt. Patterson graduated from the Basic Law Enforcement Academy, and continued working for the department as a patrol officer. Sgt. Patterson remained on patrol, while advancing to Senior and Master Officer. During this time, Sgt. Patterson served as a Field Training Officer. Sgt. Patterson is a graduate of Texas A&M University and he also holds a "Master Officer" certificate from the Texas Commission on Law Enforcement Standards and Education. Sgt. Patterson's new assignment will be as a patrol supervisor on the third watch.

Master Officer Mike Pavelka has been promoted to Sergeant. Sgt. Pavelka began his career with the department in October, 1996 as a patrol officer. During his time on patrol, Sgt. Pavelka attained Senior Officer status and served as a Field Training Officer. In 2001, Sgt. Pavelka transferred to the Criminal Investigation Division where he attained Master Officer status while working as a detective. Sgt. Pavelka is a member of the department's Hostage Negotiation Team and holds a "Master Officer" certificate from the Texas Commission on Law Enforcement Standards and Education. Sgt. Pavelka is a graduate of Sam Houston State University. Sgt. Pavelka's new assignment will be as a patrol supervisor on second watch.

The three officers were honored Monday during a reception at the College Station Police Department.
